The APAC Firm Risk Management Division is responsible for the independent identification, analysis, reporting and escalation of all credit, market, operational and liquidity risk exposures arising from business activities, acting independently of business management and providing an effective challenge process. Credit Risk Management (CRM) evaluates credit risk of transactions, especially loans and derivatives, from all BUs within the Firm and approves, rejects or modifies them after thorough consideration of various factors. CRM also assigns Internal Credit Ratings; establishes and manages credit risk limits in accordance with the risk tolerance established by the Board; monitors and reports on credit risk exposures on a regular basis to the Chief Risk Officer and senior management. About the RoleWe are seeking an Analyst or a Associate with first or second line experience in managing credit risk within the wealth management space, with strong analytical capabilities and deep product knowledge in derivatives and corporate finance, to join our Private Wealth Management (PWM) Credit Risk team in Hong Kong.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues in PWM Sales Team and the Business Control Unit to manage credit risk exposures arising from Morgan Stanley’s rapidly growing private wealth platform in Asia.Provide counterparty coverage for new credit limit request, annual limit review, docs negotiation, and margin call handling;Analyze client’s portfolio under management, identify weakness in the account and design risk mitigants;Conduct due diligence on high-net-worth individuals and related entities across a variety of PWM transactions;Monitor and manage the Asia PWM Credit Risk portfolio on an ongoing basis;Develop, maintain and ensure compliance with all credit policies and procedures;Collaborate with other Credit Officers in the Hong Kong, Singapore and Mumbai offices;Provide guidance/mentoring for junior members of the team;Liaise with Credit Officers on the institutional counterparty side of the bank and in the US Wealth Management business, establish best practices as applicable to the region.Qualifications, Skills & RequirementsGood knowledge on securities-based lending product and margin lending policiesGood product knowledge across derivatives asset classes, including equities, FX, interest rates, and credit instruments;Proven ability to work independently and engage effectively with senior stakeholdersStrong modeling skills in Excel or Python, with a high sense of ownership and self-motivationExcellent communication skills—written, verbal, and visual—for presenting complex information clearly and effectivelyWHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY: At Morgan Stanley, we raise, manage and allocate capital for our clients – helping them reach their goals.
