Job Description

The Website Content Editor is responsible for ensuring the quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of content published across the company’s digital channels. This role blends editorial excellence, digital production, SEO best practices, and cross‑functional coordination to create a cohesive, engaging, and brand‑consistent web experience.

The ideal candidate has strong editorial instincts, exceptional attention to detail, and experience managing website content (including written content, audio, and video) within a financial services company. They understand how audiences interact with digital content, translating complex information into clear, compelling narratives. They will be the primary point of contact on the Content Strategy team engaging with UX, SEO, web development, and data & analytics to develop and optimize content for the digital environment, and will work closely with stakeholders across the organization to understand and execute their goals for various stakeholders’ digital journeys. They will oversee freelance resources creating digital content to ensure that it meets brand standards.

The role is based in New York City with a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and proofread website content, ensuring clarity, consistency, and adherence to brand voice.
  • Manage ongoing updates to web pages, including refreshing outdated content, unpublishing expired materials, and maintaining accurate redirects.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure content is aligned with business priorities and meets quality standards.
  • Stage and publish content in the CMS, trafficking all required assets (written content, imagery, audio, and video) in coordination with design and multimedia teams.
  • Ensure all pages meet accessibility, brand, and layout standards.
  • Manage landing‑page updates, monitoring content rotation and identifying story placement opportunities.
  • Use analytics tools to evaluate content performance, identify trends, and inform content decisions.
  • Apply SEO best practices, metadata standards, and user‑journey insights to improve visibility and engagement.
  • Partner with analytics and UX teams to test and refine content formats, CTAs, and placements.
  • Coordinate with Legal and Compliance for content review.

Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services is required, with investment banking and/or investment management preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required with 8-10 years managing and/or editing investment-related content for mass media or a large corporation, with multiple stakeholders and a broad audience.
  • Expert in the dynamics of online content creation, management and curation to drive brand reputation, new business, and client engagement.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally, engaging senior stakeholders, managing multiple projects, and adapting to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of multimedia content (video, podcast, infographics) and digital asset workflows.
  • Experience using a CMS to manage real-time content.
  • Familiarity with SEO, web analytics, digital accessibility standards, and UX best practices.
  • Experience using generative AI in content creation and amplification preferred.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $104,000 and $151,500 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
