Overview:
Are you passionate about building cutting-edge AI infrastructure to support technology that will power the AI revolution—scaling models, accelerating innovation, and transforming industries at global scale. The Azure High Performance Computing & Artificial Intelligence (HPC & AI) compute platform team defines and delivers the hardware roadmap, software, and services that enable our users to run computing workloads in Azure – extreme scale AI training and inference including large language models, traditional HPC modelling and simulations, remote visualization, and immersive gaming experiences. We are responsible for providing Azure customers with supercomputer-class capabilities to accelerate their research, drive competitive differentiation, and finding answers to some of the most difficult questions of science and industry.
We are looking for a passionate, visionary, collaborative, and results-oriented Principal Program Manager to manage a portfolio of AI and GPU Azure VM product families, with key focus areas including simulations, machine learning, inference, remote visualization, and immersive gaming experiences. You’ll oversee a team defining product goals, strategy, and roadmap of AI VM products, and work with cross-functional teams across Azure to deliver these products end-to-end. The results of your work will have broad customer and Microsoft impact.
This role involves working closely with Azure product teams, field staff, partners, and customers to deliver workload-optimized Azure IaaS solutions. You will not only need to anticipate the direction of AI hardware technology but also actively influence its development to meet both current and emerging customer needs. Success in this position requires expertise across multiple disciplines, including computing, networking, storage, domain science and engineering, software ecosystems and tools, strategic communication, and relationship-building with Azure product teams, field teams, Microsoft partners, and customers. Your contributions will have a direct impact on a wide range of internal and external customer use cases.

Responsibilities- You will be part of a team responsible for delivering mission critical customer products, focusing on managing a portfolio of AI and GPU Azure VM families optimized for simulations, machine learning, inference, remote visualization, and gaming. Your responsibilities will include:
- Mentor and grow a Product Management and Technical Product Management team that is customer obsessed, data-driven and owns end-to-end product lines through delivery with agility and quality
- Working directly with core Azure engineering teams to deliver class-leading Azure VM product offerings that is workload-optimized for the target customer segments focusing on product innovation, quality, performance, reliability, and scale throughout the full product lifecycle
- Work on solving complex technical problems through defining roadmaps for features & capabilities and work with the engineering teams on their implementations
- Engage directly with customer stakeholders to understand their workload needs, requirements, and ensure alignment on existing and future product offerings in Azure
- Lead large cross-group partnership opportunities across a diverse set of partner development teams
- Work with senior leaders within Microsoft to align on the product strategies and roadmap, secure cross-team support, and drive clear execution of deliverables
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience.1+ year(s) people management experience.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development OR equivalent experience. - 3+ years people management experience with a solid track record of leading, growing and coaching a team of strong and diverse product managers and technical program managers
- 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
- 6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
- 6+ years experience disrupting a market for a product, feature, or experience (e.g., competitive disruption, taking the place of an established competing product).
- 4+ years experience proven product management track record defining product strategies and delivering AI product offerings in a fast-paced, cloud based, and demanding environment
- Deep knowledge of compute workloads and technologies employed by customers in the areas of simulations, machine learning, inference, remote visualization, and gaming
- Comfortable working at the intersection of hardware architectures and software tools across a broad set of technologies including CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, RDMA, high-speed interconnects like Infini Band, AI frameworks, and distributed cloud computing environments
- A growth-mindset that enables creativity in thinking, strong analytical skill, an ability to deal with ambiguity, management of changing priorities, and consistency in learning from others

Product Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
