Overview:

Microsoft’s Commerce Platform Compliance Engineering team builds scalable, reliable, and secure engineering solutions that enable Microsoft’s global commerce platform to meet regulatory, audit, and trust requirements, including SOX, privacy, identity, and AI governance.

We are looking for a Software Engineer II who is passionate about building high-quality software and enjoys working on platform services that operate at scale. In this role, you will contribute to compliance automation, platform reliability, and governance solutions that reduce manual effort, improve audit readiness, and strengthen customer trust across Microsoft’s commerce ecosystem.

• Responsibilities Engineering & Development- Design, implement, and maintain software services and platform components that support compliance, auditability, and governance across commerce systems.

• Build automation pipelines to replace manual compliance processes (e.g., evidence collection, access reviews, control validations).

• Develop reliable, testable, and maintainable code using modern engineering practices (code reviews, unit tests, CI/CD).

• Contribute to service instrumentation, logging, and monitoring to ensure strong operational and audit signals.

• Platform & Systems Work- Work on distributed systems that operate at scale across multiple services and tenants.

• Partner with senior engineers to improve system reliability, performance, and security posture.

• Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident analysis, root cause investigations, and preventative improvements.

• Collaboration & Impact- Collaborate closely with product managers, compliance partners, security teams, and auditors to translate regulatory requirements into scalable engineering solutions.

• Contribute to technical design discussions and provide input on architecture and implementation tradeoffs.

• Share knowledge through documentation, design reviews, and team discussions.

• Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as C#, Java, Python, or similar.

• Experience building or maintaining backend services, APIs, or platform components.

• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design fundamentals.

• Familiarity with cloud-based systems (Azure, or equivalent).

• Ability to write clear, maintainable code and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
