As part of this mission, the Identity division is redefining how identity is used to secure access in a cloud-first, mobile-first world. Our identity platform provides secure access for everyone and everything, helping organizations protect what matters most. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team building the authentication libraries that power secure access for Microsoft applications—including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Authenticator—as well as thousands of third-party apps. These libraries are foundational to Microsoft’s identity platform and are used by millions of developers and end users worldwide. In this role, you will design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance authentication components that enable seamless single sign-on (SSO) and access to cloud resources. You will work closely with product managers, security experts, and engineering teams across Microsoft to ensure our solutions meet the highest standards of security, reliability, and usability. • Responsibilities- Design and develop features that enable a great developer experience, which in turn will create delightful customer experiences.
• Adhere to and drive modern software engineering practices through design reviews.
• Engage with customers through open source, to deliver features that meet actual customer needs.
• Improve test coverage for libraries, organize and implement integration tests, and resolve problem areas Considers testability, portability/monitoring, reliability, and maintainability, and understands when code is ready to be shared and delivered.
• Gain a working understanding of Microsoft businesses and collaborate with mentors and leaders to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end experiences for our users Focus on customer/partner needs through a data driven approach.

Qualifications:

Required/minimum qualifications:- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience

Other Requirements: - Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or preferred qualifications: - 5+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including Java or Kotlin OR equivalent experience.

• 2+ years of experience with Android App development.
• 3+ years of experience in Security or OAuth.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
