The Office Copilot Front Doors team is looking for a Software Engineer II with proven technical leadership to advance Office Copilot solutions and deliver next gen value for users across our commercial and consumer segments. You will use your creativity, engage in success across teams and partnerships, and leverage your skills and experience to deliver the future of Copilot and AI for Office users. In this role, you will leverage your full-stack development experience and influence design and develop and deliver services and features at scale.
The CFD team mission is to deliver world-class, personalized Copilot solutions that delight Microsoft Office users with the power of AI, leading to growth, customer satisfaction, and healthy engagement.

- Responsibilities- Drive design, development, testing, and release of services and e2e solutions that enhance user experiences and achieve key business objectives.
- Work well with others, including engineers, program managers, designers, and partner teams.
- Evolve development guidelines, engineering practices & processes for Office e2e client to services development & delivery.
- Design resilient, scalable, and easily maintainable software.
- Lead with an experimental, data driven approach with a focus on driving business outcomes.
- Contribute to an amazing team and inclusive culture with an emphasis on respect, integrity, and accountability for outcomes.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Experience with AI technologies and building services at scale.
- Experience building applications, libraries, SDKs, and other development platform components.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
- OR equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to use AI tooling to reduce cycle time and boost throughput while maintaining Microsoft’s standards for privacy, security, and compliance.
- Experience with LLMs, Copilot Platform, skills development, advanced prompt engineering, and evaluation methodologies is a plus.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and understand key business needs in line with competing priorities and apply the right technology and implementation to the solution.
- Experience working with AI technologies and infrastructure, with emphasis on scalability, reliability, and performance in production environments.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills with a solid understanding of object-oriented design, coding patterns, testing practices and solutions for large scale technical problems.
- Demonstrated growth mindset to learn new things and quickly get up-to-speed and be productive on new technical domains and are comfortable in dealing with ambiguity.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
