We are hiring a Senior Director, Communications for the Office of the CEO of Microsoft AI - sitting at the intersection of executive and brand storytelling, media strategy, reputation management, and employee experience, this roles ensures Microsoft AI conveys a compelling and consistent voice both externally and internally.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, entrepreneurial leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, builds and grows high-performing teams, and quickly establishes credibility with senior leaders and external partners. They excel at shaping narratives, leading high-impact campaigns, managing reputation risks, and ensuring Microsoft AI shows up in the right cultural conversations. This role blends hands-on execution with executive-level counsel, strong judgment, creative energy, and a proven ability to elevate premium or lifestyle brands while developing talent and fostering a collaborative team culture.
This role supports a substantial communications mandate to lead and present Microsoft AI and the CEO’s strategies, priorities, and benefits to diverse internal and external audiences. The Executive Communications team is responsible for painting a compelling portrait of the future and clearly laying out a roadmap to get there. This role will also lead the community of Communication strategists across Microsoft AI.
This position must be in the Mountain View or Redmond offices 4 days per week.
- Responsibilities- Develop overarching Microsoft AI narrative for product and industry messaging.
- Proactively surface and manage critical industry issues and stories and their relationship to Microsoft AI.
- Manage a team to deliver high-quality, high-craft, strategic comms plan and deliverables that communicates the CEO’s vision.
- Create and drive simple, clear and high-quality content calendars and program schedules, ensuring visibility and adequate review time.
- Collaborate across Microsoft teams to develop storytelling opportunities.
- Lead the team in the development of materials for vision memos, Town Halls, and key customer engagements.
- Monitor and analyze messaging impact and develop responses across channels.
- Draft external and reactive communications as needed.
- Lead the community of communication professionals across Microsoft AI to build cohesive messaging and deep organization collaboration.
- Lead a team to deliver all internal communications, end-to-end production of town halls and events, including logistics and vendor coordination.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 8+ years communications, marketing operations, field operations, program management, project management, or related experience OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years people management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance or related field AND 8+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management or related experience
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance or related field AND 10+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management
- 5+ years people management experience
Communications M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $155,800 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $202,400 - $303,600 per year.
