The Microsoft Developer Division in Prague is seeking a seasoned engineers with deep expertise in systems programming and runtime development. In this role, you will be at the forefront of introducing and scaling the adoption of the Rust programming language for critical infrastructure at Microsoft. As part of our well-established teams at the Microsoft Development Center Prague, you’ll work on compiler and low-level tooling that enables safe, performant, and reliable systems development at scale. You’ll bring your technical leadership, low-level expertise, and passion for modern systems programming to influence architectural direction, mentor other engineers, and deliver high-quality solutions that push the boundaries of what’s possible.

• Responsibilities- Lead the crafting of the foundations of the Rust language ecosystem at Microsoft.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of Rust compiler back-ends and analysis tools.
• Collaborate with a mix of open and closed source developer tools technologies, emphasizing Rust compiler enhancements to support internal product groups on both Windows and Linux platforms.
• Act as a representative of Microsoft in the Rust open-source community.
• Utilize your outstanding collaboration and communication skills to partner with internal teams, providing guidance on Rust best practices and aligning with their direction and priorities.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, EE, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in production software development.
• Experience working with one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Rust, or other systems programming languages.

Plus some combination of the following:

• Excellent teamwork and communication skills
• Comfortable with algorithms and data structures
• Prior compiler or language design experience or significant course work
• Knowledge of modern CPU architecture fundamentals
• Knowledge of operating systems fundamentals (Linux and/or Windows)
