Description and Requirements

We will consider suitable applicants who are based in EMEA Cities where Met Life has a presence.

The Opportunity:

This role is the primary EMEA lead for AI strategy, execution, and value realization —responsible for driving portfolio governance, capability uplift, reuse, and scaling of AI across businesses.

The Director will ensure aligned execution across markets, functions and global teams, bridging business, technology, and data partners to accelerate Met Life’s enterprise AI agenda.

This role will be pivotal in designing and delivering AI-driven change. You will partner with teams to reimagine departmental functions, building the vision for human-AI teams and deploying deep technical capability that delivers measurable business impact in growth, operational efficiency, and customer experience. It ensures EMEA markets remain ahead in a rapidly evolving digital and AI landscape, by fully leveraging enterprise tools and talent to create a competitive advantage. This role requires a blend of strategic planning, hands-on execution and change management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. AI Portfolio Leadership (EMEA)
  • Own and manage the end-to-end EMEA AI portfolio, including ideation pipelines, prioritisation, value sizing, and progress tracking
  • Act as a regional change leader, driving behavioural adoption of AI and accelerating workforce readiness
  • Partner with Finance to track and report value realization across markets in line with global requirements (prioritisation with financial discipline (e.g., ROI modelling, cost-benefit analysis))
  • Coordinate AI‑related OKRs and annual planning cycles

AI Champion Responsibilities:

  • Drive best‑practice creation, reuse, and cross‑regional learning, particularly in prioritised domains
  • Surface and mobilize action on pain points / opportunities, ensuring scaling of high‑value solutions across markets
  • Lead/participate in the AI Champions community and regular champion calls
  • Contribute to global AI governance and reporting
  • Embed Responsible AI principles across markets, partnering with global governance teams to ensure alignment with emerging EU regulations, AI risk frameworks, and enterprise guardrails.
  1. AI Delivery, Execution & Market Support
  • Work with markets to shape business cases, test hypotheses, structure pilots, and coordinate resourcing
  • Support markets on readiness needs: data, process, SME alignment, change management
  • Partner with GTO, Data & Analytics, CIO community and Model Risk on deployment and guardrails
  • Ensure markets meet required data, infrastructure and operating model standards for AI scaling, in partnership with global engineering teams

AI Adoption & Capability Building:

  • Drive AI capability uplift, including literacy, use‑case experimentation, and support the Pebbles / Power Platform acceleration initiatives
  • Support rollout of enterprise tools (e.g., M365 Copilot) and optimise license allocations and use across teams
  • Maintain and grow the EMEA AI community of practice, including regular communications, materials, and success stories.

Strategic AI Insight & External Scanning:

  • Develop thought leadership on key AI trends, competitor analysis and opportunities by business line / function
  • Build strategic external partnerships with key AI ecosystem players (vendors, cloud providers, industry groups) to accelerate EMEA innovation
  • Ensure alignment with global transformation priorities and the EMEA New Frontier strategic priorities, as well as connecting the dots to find synergies across regional and country OKRs and other key initiatives
  • Shape and communicate a clear AI strategic vision for EMEA, advising senior leadership and influencing enterprise-level AI direction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successfully delivered EMEA AI OKRs and value targets in current/previous role
  • Managed the maturity of the regional AI portfolio (quality, velocity, scaling)
  • Directly contributed to the elevation of AI literacy, adoption and experimentation across markets
  • Demonstrated reuse and cross‑regional leverage of AI capabilities
