Data Center Location Strategy Analyst
About the role
Meta's Global Strategy & Development team is seeking a Data Center Location Strategy Analyst to support the long-term capacity planning and site selection strategy that underpins Meta's global data center portfolio. In this role, you will develop scenario analyses and optionality models to evaluate optimal locations for new data center capacities, directly informing multi-billion dollar capital investment decisions. You will partner with teams across site development, energy, network, finance, and construction to develop location frameworks that balance capacity demand forecasts with supply-side constraints, ensuring Meta's infrastructure footprint scales reliably to support capacity enablement for billions of users worldwide.
Data Center Location Strategy Analyst Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain location strategy frameworks and analyses that evaluate potential data center sites across dimensions including power availability, land cost, network connectivity, permitting risk, climate exposure, and labor market depth
Translate long-range capacity demand forecasts into geographic supply requirements, identifying regional gaps and prioritizing site development pipelines to close projected shortfalls
Build quantitative models, scenario analyses, and optionality strategies to compare location alternatives across cost, risk, schedule, and strategic fit dimensions, supporting executive-level capital allocation decisions
Synthesize market intelligence on power grid infrastructure, utility interconnection timelines, renewable energy availability, and regulatory environments across target geographies
Collaborate with real estate, energy, network, and cross-functional teams to assess site-specific feasibility constraints and incorporate findings into portfolio-level location recommendations
Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools that track the health of the site development pipeline, including capacity milestones, risk flags, and decision gate status
Conduct portfolio health reviews and partner with finance and capacity planning teams to align location strategy outputs with financial models, total cost of ownership analyses, and long-range infrastructure investment plans
Identify emerging markets and geographies that meet Meta's data center siting criteria, conducting proactive market assessments to expand the portfolio of viable future locations
Communicate location strategy recommendations and supporting analyses to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership through structured written deliverables and presentations
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a directly related field, or equivalent practical experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
6+ years of experience in data center site selection, infrastructure capacity planning, real estate strategy, energy market analysis, or a closely related field
Experience building quantitative models to evaluate and compare infrastructure investment alternatives, including scenario analysis and sensitivity modeling
Experience synthesizing complex, multi-variable datasets spanning geographic, energy, regulatory, and financial dimensions to produce actionable strategic recommendations
Experience collaborating cross-functionally with real estate, energy, finance, or network teams to drive alignment on infrastructure planning decisions
Ability to source and utilize data, including data visualization, to communicate analytical findings and strategic recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Data center industry experience with a focus on capacity delivery and scaling
Experience integrating AI or automation tools into planning or analytical workflows to improve modeling efficiency, scenario coverage, or reporting accuracy
Experience applying geospatial analysis tools or GIS platforms to infrastructure siting and market assessment workflows
Familiarity with hyperscale data center design typologies, construction timelines, and the key site characteristics that drive development feasibility and cost
Experience with power systems, utility interconnection processes, or renewable energy procurement as applied to large-scale data center or industrial facility development
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Location strategy and modeling experience across multiple geographies
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
