Job Description:

We are looking for a motivated fourth-year Bachelor/Master student in Applied Sciences! Welcome to our team

The D&T department is an essential hub in our organization. This department is focused on investigating novel technologies and assays towards proof-of-concept for novel vaccine solutions. The team consists of ~40 employees, all of whom have extensive knowledge and experience in a multidisciplinary setting (i.e. immunology, biochemistry, virology, cell biology, microbiology, formulation, etc.). The team works closely with other departments within the company to achieve the stated goals.

Your internship assignment

The D&T department is investigating novel platform technologies and vaccine strategies with the purpose to broadly protect piglets against relevant bacterial pathogens which cause post-weaning diarrhea. These pathogens are currently a significant concern in pig farming and effective solutions are lacking. The focus of the internship project will be on developing novel (invitro) assays with the purpose to monitor antigen-specific immune responses in target animals upon evaluation of novel vaccine strategies.

Your responsibilities

  • Apply different types of immunological (i.e. ELISA or Alphalisa) and basic cell culture techniques.

  • Novel assay development• Processing of various biomaterials

  • Providing a fresh perspective to the department by sharing your opinion.

The described tasks form the basic package and will often be performed independently after a proper training and learning period. These tasks may be supplemented with other projects and/or tasks on your own initiative or at the request of the organization.

What is required

  • Fourth-year Bachelor/Master student in Applied Sciences or related study.

  • Familiarity with basic immunological and biochemical knowledge/skills

  • Excellent Dutch and/or English communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Available for a period of 6 months for 5 days per week.
