Intellectual Property China / Patent Counsel (Base Shanghai)

Job Objectives

• Provide IP expertise to protect company new technologies and innovations through patent applications

• Support the implementation of local patent strategies to build a robust patent portfolio for assigned departments

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maximize the value of intellectual property within the business

• Analyze market and competitor trends in China to provide insights for adapting the local IP strategy

• Collaborate with global IP Department on routine patent filings to ensure local efforts are contributing to global IP objectives

Qualification

• Bachelor degree or higher in Science, Engineering, or a related technical filed

• A background in intellectual property law or related studies is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in the patent field, including prior art search, drafting and prosecution

• Knowledge of automotive structures and components is highly desirable

• Experience in organizing IP-related events or awareness initiatives is a plus.

• Fluent in English (both written and spoken); proficiency in German is an advantage

• Demonstrates initial leadership potential, showing accountability and a proactive approach to managing responsibilities beyond core tasks

• A collaborative team player with agility and innovative thinking, able to express ideas clearly and effectively

• Self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
