A Day in the Life

External Reporting EMEA Team offers services for multiple key financial processes including Statutory and Corporate Income Tax reporting. The team is diverse and multicultural, with most members located in Heerlen and others working remotely. It is part of a larger, dynamic finance organization, serving a wide range of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region countries.

To be successful in this role you need strong knowledge and experience in French or Irish GAAP, operating in a global and evolving environment. You should be a collaborative team player with a hands-on mentality, demonstrating curiosity and a willingness to learn. Accounting knowledge, good verbal and written communication skills in English, a problem-solving mindset, and an interest in improving processes and leveraging new technologies will help you thrive in this position. The preferred work locations for this role are Paris (FR), Galway (IE) or Heerlen (NL), with, at this moment, 2-3 days a week working on site.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

• Preparation of the financial statements, audit coordination, statutory filing, and tax filing for France and other jurisdictions
• Translate US GAAP to local GAAP accounting principles
• Coordinate and review activities of junior team members and service provider,
• Corporate income tax accounting and reporting for group purposes,
• Prepare finance updates for the local board meetings,
• Contribute to initiatives to transform, optimize standardization, and automate audit coordination and statutory, corporate income tax and group reporting

Required Knowledge and Experience:

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Audit or Accounting from a French University
• 6 years relevant working experience in accounting or audit including French GAAP,
• Strong communication and coordinating skills,
• Highly self-motivated, pro-active and results driven,
• Minimum C1 proficiency level in English business language,
• Microsoft Excel intermediate proficiency level.

We value candidates to hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification or its equivalent, possess hands-on experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems—preferably SAP—and demonstrate a strong working knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
