A Day in the Life
The Senior EHS Manager for Medtronic’s commercial operations in Brampton and Milton, Ontario, provides site and country level leadership and accountability for Environmental, Health, and Safety programs within a regulated commercial environment. This role partners closely with the Milton product service and repair site; field, clinical, and sales teams; administrative functions (on‑site and virtual); and site and country leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, effective risk management, and continuous improvement aligned with Medtronic’s mission and global EHS standards.
As a senior leader and subject matter expert, the Senior EHS Manager leads the implementation of EHS strategies, drives regulatory compliance, and advances employee engagement initiatives to support safe, sustainable, and efficient operations. The role requires a hands‑on, influential leader who can balance operational priorities with EHS excellence while serving as a trusted advisor to the business.
In addition, this position plays an active role on the Americas EHS leadership team, contributing to enterprise initiatives, standardizing best practices, and strengthening EHS performance across the region.

Responsibilities may include the following, and other duties may be assigned.
- Lead the implementation and execution of EHS programs, management systems, and training to ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements across service and repair, field/sales, virtual employees, and office environments.
- Serve as a visible regional EHS leader and trusted advisor, providing risk-based guidance and aligning EHS strategies with business objectives.
- Translate enterprise goals into regional strategies and actionable plans that drive continuous improvement, strengthen compliance, and advance a proactive EHS culture.
- Lead and influence an EHS professional, to ensure alignment, accountability, and consistent execution of EHS standards.
- Drive standardization and adoption of EHS processes, tools, and best practices across sites and functions, effectively leading change and managing competing priorities.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong safety leadership across the region.
- Oversee risk identification and mitigation activities, including risk assessments, hazard analyses, PPE evaluations, and waste management practices.
- Ensure effective compliance monitoring, auditing, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Review and analyze EHS regulations; represent the company with regulatory agencies and in industry forums.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external regulators, demonstrating professionalism and transparency.
- Serve as a leader in incident response and escalation, ensuring timely decision making, effective root cause analysis and sustainable corrective and preventative actions, and manage workers' compensation programs.
- Represent the region within enterprise EHS leadership teams, contributing to strategy, sharing best practices, and influencing enterprise initiatives. Develops, administers and implements environmental, health, and safety programs in accordance with governmental requirements (Ontario and Canadian legislation, such as Ontario OHSA, EPA Ontario, CEPA) and Medtronic global standards.
- Manage emergency response procedures and business continuity plans at both sites.
- Effectively manages the EHS annual budget for commercial Canada.

Must Haves
- 7+ years of progressive EHS experience OR advanced degree and 5+ years of experience, including multi‑site or regional responsibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian and Ontario environmental and occupational health regulations
- Proven experience leading audits, investigations, and regulatory interactions
- Ability to travel between sites in Ontario
Nice to Have
- Advanced degree in science, engineering, or occupational health
- Professional certification (e.g., JHSC, CRSP, CHSC, WHIMS, WSIB, ionizing radiation safety officer) or progress toward certification
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
- Experience with EHS data management systems and structured problem‑solving (A3, Lean, Six Sigma)
- Strong change leadership, communication, and people leadership skills
- Experience leading or supporting site audits, inspections, and corrective action programs.
- Demonstrated success driving behavior‑based safety or employee engagement initiatives.
- Certifications preferred include First Aid, CPR and AED
