Represents clinical and Medical Affairs internally and externally for ACEE (Africa, Central Eastern Europe) based out of Prague, Czech. Develops and executes clinical/medical projects in the region for either a specific therapeutic area or across several therapeutic areas. This would require about 30% travel within the region and maybe one international travel/fiscal year.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Regional Clinical/Medical Affairs:

  • Represents Medtronic as “the Clinical/Medical face” within the region and acts at the same time as the “voice” of the local HCPs and authorities towards relevant stakeholders at Medtronic for the assigned therapeutic areas
  • Establishes effective and systematic collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. Commercial/Marketing/Market Access, Operating Unit (OU), Health Economic, Legal, Government Affairs, Regulatory stakeholders), physicians and hospitals and triggers the conversation locally around unmet clinical needs, market access, outcome measurements and improving quality of care for patients
  • Develop potential local clinical projects/studies/medical sciences strategies/activities in line with regional and global strategies
  • Prepare and author clinical study protocol and reports
  • Provide Medical inputs and support to clinical studies
  • Builds the right level of knowledge in reimbursement, healthcare management in the country/region to address those with relevant clinical solutions
  • Develop/lead Health Care Professional (HCP) education and engagement plans
  • Develop and lead Physician Advisory boards and consultancies
  • Ensures awareness of local clinical activity and new clinical evidence and provides input to sales & marketing leaders
  • Advises local marketing organization on outcome of publications and develops CRMS strategies and advises on a communication strategy
  • Provides expert review of marketing/sales presentations, scientific communications, and publications
  • Drive clinical evidence dissemination to internal and external stakeholders
  • If needed, provides inputs to supporting tenders
  • Be clinical representative of Medtronic to competent authorities.

Clinical Study Management and ERP:

  • Ensure seamless project execution and high-quality deliverables that meet stakeholders’ expectations
  • Management of global and local clinical studies/projects in the region as required
  • Provides scientific support for clinical project
  • Coordinates with investigators for the External Research Programs (ERP) submission, tracking, and local administration all in alignment with existing SOP’s
  • Supports the monitor/Clinical Trial Assistant (CTA), as needed, for the Ethics Committee (EC) submission, site start up and the Competent Authority (CA) and Regulatory Authority (RA) submission.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Medical Degree from a reputable university
  • In depth knowledge of local laws & regulations for clinical research
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Clinical Research, Medical Affairs, Medical Science Liaison, clinical marketing roles
  • Strong communication and networking skills
  • Ability to think in the bigger picture and have global perspective
  • Strong judgment & interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving & influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Project management and scientific writing skills
  • Ability & comfortable to ensure strict adherence to regulations
  • Ability to multitask & to effectively deal with competing business priorities

  • Ability & desire to work cross business
  • Willing to travel in the country/region
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile
  • The employee is also required to interact with a computer and communicate with peers and co-workers
  • Ability to travel ≤30% of the time.
