A Day in the Life

We are seeking an experienced SAP Security Specialist to join our team. This role will play a critical part in designing, implementing, and managing SAP security solutions, with substantial involvement in multiple S/4HANA transformation projects. The ideal candidate has demonstrated expertise in SAP security across complex landscapes and hands-on experience in S/4HANA migrations and transformations.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

SAP Security Design & Implementation:

  • Develop and implement SAP security strategies, roles, and authorizations for S/4HANA and related environments, ensuring alignment with business requirements and compliance standards.

  • Design, configuration and deployment of SAP GRC Access Control Components.

  • Conduct risk analysis and remediation for Segregation of Duties (SoD) and critical access.

  • S/4HANA Transformation Involvement:

  • Actively participate in S/4HANA transformation projects, including brownfield and/or hybrid approaches. Assess and redesign ECC security models for S/4HANA compatibility.

User & Role Management:

  • Oversee user access, role design, and authorizations across SAP landscapes (S/4HANA, Fiori, BW/4HANA, etc.), ensuring proper segregation of duties (SoD).

Security Audits & Compliance:

  • Conduct regular security audits, risk assessments, and SoD reviews. Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., SOX, GDPR).

Identity & Access Management:

  • Integrate SAP security with enterprise IAM solutions (such as SAP GRC, Azure AD) and support Single Sign-On (SSO) implementations.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with business process owners, project managers, BASIS, and infrastructure teams to ensure security requirements are met throughout project lifecycles.

Documentation & Training:

  • Maintain detailed security documentation. Provide training and guidance to end users and project teams on SAP security best practices.

  • Incident Response:

  • Investigate and resolve security incidents, access issues, and audit findings promptly.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

  • 8 years of SAP security and GRC experience, with at least 2 years focused on S/4HANA transformations.

  • Involvement in at least two full-cycle S/4HANA implementation or migration projects.

  • Expertise in at least two GRC implementation/upgrade projects.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of SAP security concepts (roles, authorizations, profiles, user administration).

  • Experience with SAP GRC Access Control, Fiori security, and integration with enterprise IAM solutions.

  • Understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture, including Fiori Launchpad, CDS views, and HANA DB security.

  • Familiarity with SAP cloud solutions (SAP BTP, Success Factors, Ariba) is a plus.

Compliance & Audit:

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (SOX, GDPR, etc.) and best practices for SAP security controls.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP System Security and Authorizations or S/4HANA Security certification.

  • Experience with global SAP deployments and multi-country rollouts.

  • Exposure to Agile project methodologies.
