Responsibilities

Prepares on-demand diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals for patient procedures in a dedicated radiopharmaceutical lab. Reviews patient medical history to understand patient’s illness and pending diagnostic procedure. Administers radionuclides and adjunct medications in both clinical and hospital settings. Produces high quality nuclear medicine images that meet the standards established by the Mayo Clinic Radiology Department. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of image reconstruction. Performs advanced image processing and analysis to aid physicians with diagnosing and treating disease. Operates a wide variety of medical equipment and cutting-edge technology that includes PET/CT, PET/MR, SPECT/CT, Molecular Breast Imaging, dedicated cardiac CZT, whole body CZT, and general-purpose SPECT scanners. Coordinates and delivers patient treatments as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a SNMMI Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence. Maintains competency and retains extensive knowledge of a large variety of complex nuclear medicine procedures. Able to prioritize tasks and work efficiently while paying close attention to detail within a high-volume Nuclear Medicine Department.

Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate and provide compassionate care during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Able to accommodate patient needs by adapting to age-specific and physical limitations. Respects the modesty and confidentiality of patients. Thinks creatively to deliver individualized care and address specific patient needs to align with the primary value of Mayo Clinic: The needs of the patient come first.

Adheres to department safety requirements and practices Radiation Safety guidelines (ALARA) for themselves, support personnel, and patients.

Provides education and clinical training to Nuclear Medicine Program students and support staff. Willing to continuously adapt, learn, and nurture technical skills throughout career in a world-class Nuclear Medicine Department. Looks for opportunities within work unit for growth and development including but not limited to participation with education, research, internal committees, and institutional committees. Fosters teamwork through effective communication. Positions may include a variety of work area rotations as well as the possibility of permanent PET roles.

Must have a bachelor's degree in a related field and be a graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program.

Must be board certified in nuclear medicine technology and maintain current licensure.

Demonstrate flexibility in response to varying workloads required.

License or Certifications:

Must be registered as a certified nuclear medicine technologist (CNMT) with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and maintain current licensure.

If position requires rotations to PET, must be registered with the NMTCB as a Positron Emission Tomography technologist or obtain certification within eighteen months of employment, and maintain current licensure.

CPR/BLS Certified or obtained within 90 days of employment.

Schedule Details

Shifts are typically 8 hours Monday – Friday, also with the possibility of 10 hour shifts. On-call responsibilities may be available as well.

Weekend Schedule

Normal business hours are Monday – Friday, no weekends. On call position would include rotating overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage.
