Automation Engineer

Role Overview:

The Junior Automation Engineer will support operational excellence efforts by designing, building, and maintaining automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve service reliability across MC&O. This role focuses on identifying repetitive, high-friction operational processes and transforming them into scalable, reliable automated routines using lightweight tools and scripting.

The ideal candidate brings an automation-first mindset, strong scripting fundamentals, and a desire to learn and grow while contributing to measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and consistency.

• Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and maintain automation solutions to streamline recurring operational activities and reduce manual effort.
• Develop lightweight tools and scripts (Python preferred and other scripting languages as needed) to support:
  o Monitoring hygiene and alert/noise reduction
  o Metrics generation and reporting
  o Workflow and tooling integrations
  o Support for TRT execution and operational gating
• Identify operational pain points and high-friction processes, translating them into repeatable, automated solutions.
• Partner with operations, engineering, and support teams to understand workflows and automation opportunities.
• Validate automation outcomes using clear metrics to demonstrate improvements in speed, quality, and service reliability.
• Maintain clear, well-documented code and scripts suitable for production use.
• Continuously improve automation routines in alignment with SAT’s automation support and process improvement charter.

All about you

• Hands-on experience writing and maintaining production-grade scripts, with Python strongly preferred.
• Experience automating operational workflows, integrating with APIs and internal tools, and generating actionable reports or insights.
• Basic understanding of operational monitoring, alerting, and reliability concepts.
• Familiarity with scripting, automation frameworks, or tooling used in operational or support environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to learn and apply automation best practices.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
