Title and Summary
Director, Acceptance Channel Partner Commercialization
Mastercard’s Global Acceptance + Merchant Solutions team is on a mission to make Mastercard the best way to pay everywhere. With our powerful suite of acceptance products, like Merchant Cloud we are working on shaping the payment experiences of the future.
In partnership with regional teams and cross-functional partners around the globe, Global Acceptance + Merchant Solutions works to expand Mastercard acceptance and help merchants and acquirers grow their businesses through Acceptance solutions and strategic programs. At its essence, building acceptance is about driving the secular shift from cash to electronic payments, with the promise of giving consumers the best payment experience – one that’s fast, convenient and secure.
As payments evolve and new players reshape the ecosystem, we are seeking a Director to drive revenue and GMV growth by leading Go-to-Market execution of new business models with a special focus on strategic programs, bundled solutions, while ensuring our Global Bridge product delivers material value to customers with Channel Partners—such as Payment Facilitators and acquirers.
Director, Acceptance Channel Partner Commercialization is a high-impact, global role that requires cross-functional collaboration, a full-cycle sales approach, complemented by product management responsibilities to accelerate adoption of Mastercard’s Merchant Cloud solutions.
The ideal candidate is highly motivated, analytical, go-getter sales expert, customer-focused leader passionate about digital payments and possesses product management aptitude, with proven global experience in sales and driving business impact.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Commercialization plan: Lead the go-to-market strategy for Pay Facs and acquirers in key regions. Identify and ensure market readiness for new business model and Global Bridge. Focus on developing and executing strategic programs and approaches that deepen Mastercard’s presence within Channel Partner segment and drive growth via Merchant Cloud
- Business Development: Drive revenue through selling bundled value proposition and Global Bridge to Pay Facs - negotiate deals, drive conversions and represent Global Bridge in key forums
- Strategic Growth: Lead acquirer strategy and connectivity. Serve as a strategic business partner to account teams. Actively drive adoption of new business models by acquirers. Develop sales materials, implementation guides and playbooks
- Pipeline ownership: Own and maintain a robust sales pipeline, leverage data-driven insights to prioritize high-impact opportunities. Maintain acquirer account plans and executive engagement where the motion is acquirer led; align regional Acceptance teams for scaled execution
- Execution Excellence: Collaborate with local / regional teams, and client-facing teams to identify and size top business development opportunities, submit business cases, drive commercial engagement, ensure partner onboarding, certification, and technical activation.
- Problem Solving: Collaborate with internal teams to address Channel Partner-specific challenges
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with stakeholders across Global Acceptance + Merchant Solutions, Marketing, Legal, Risk, Franchise Integrity, etc. to orchestrate cross functional readiness with Gateway, Tokenization, Optimization, and other acceptance adjacent capabilities.
- Market Intelligence: Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory shifts, and competitive dynamics to inform partner engagement.
- Target focused: Meet and exceed KPIs; implement monitoring process
All About You:
- Experience in business development, Go-to-Market execution and product management.
- Deep understanding of payment processing, acquiring landscape, merchants and channel partner ecosystem (e.g., Payment Facilitators, Payment Service Providers).
- Strong experience in customer-facing roles, including leading negotiations with customers on new product launches and commercialization.
- Proven expertise in commercialization of scalable solutions, driving customer adoption, and identifying and addressing customer pain points to deliver impactful results.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing GTM strategies for innovative products.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects, guide complex conversations, and coordinate effectively with business partners globally, across different cultures and geographies
- Resilience and adaptability in a high-pressure, growth-driven environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action, execution and ownership.
- Experience working in global, matrixed environments and across cultures.
- Ability to craft clear, detailed deliverables and communicate effectively across audiences.
Nice to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Experience of living and studying abroad strongly preferred
- Self-motivated with a proven track record of delivering success
