Make a System-Wide Impact in Ambulatory Care:
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape infection prevention practices across more than 200 ambulatory care sites within the Mass General Brigham (MGB) system, including primary care, specialty clinics, urgent care, surgical centers, and endoscopy suites.
As part of a highly collaborative, specialized team of three, you’ll have the unique ability to influence care delivery at scale while still working closely with frontline teams. This role offers the best of both worlds: the autonomy and visibility of a small, agile team paired with the resources, innovation, and reputation of a world-renowned healthcare system.
If you are passionate about education, enjoy building relationships across all levels of an organization, and thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same—this role is for you.
Why This Role Stands Out:
-
Meaningful Impact: Drive infection prevention strategies across a vast ambulatory network and directly improve patient and staff safety.
-
Continuous Learning: Exposure to diverse care settings will strengthen your critical thinking, clinical judgment, and problem-solving skills every day.
-
Autonomy + Flexibility: Enjoy a hybrid schedule with the ability to manage your own time and priorities.
-
Regional Travel: Regular travel throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine—with mileage reimbursement provided.
-
Highly Collaborative: Partner with clinical leaders, frontline staff, and system stakeholders across all levels.
-
Hands-On Work: Participate in routine clinic rounding, education, and real-time problem solving.
Job Summary:
This role coordinates and supports infection prevention and control initiatives across a diverse network of ambulatory sites, driving consistent, high-quality standards of care. Responsibilities include ongoing surveillance, outbreak investigation, and required reporting through both NHSN and non-NHSN systems. The position also conducts Environment of Care rounds, identifies potential risks, and communicates findings and recommendations clearly to leadership.
Serving as a trusted educator, this role provides both formal and informal training to clinical and non-clinical staff at all levels, helping to build awareness and strengthen best practices across the organization. Collaboration is central, with close partnership across Occupational Health, Environmental Health & Safety, Compliance, and Facilities teams to ensure a coordinated approach to infection prevention.
The role also ensures adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations while advancing continuous improvement efforts through the development and implementation of strategies that reduce infection risk and enhance patient and staff safety across the ambulatory setting.

- Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences or a related field such as Nursing required
- Master’s degree in Infection Control, Public Health, Epidemiology, or a related field preferred
