About the role

This role will be working for our Mars Petcare segment, where we make life better for pets and their owners.

This role will lead the innovation of new product and packaging development for our “care and treats” pipeline (e.g. Shmackos). You’ll be responsible for the full project lifecycle from brief to concept to commercialisation, engaging multiple stakeholders and bringing to life our petcare brands through the exceptional design, quality, durability and cost effectiveness of our packaging.

What will you do?

  • Lead the development of new packaging solutions from concept to implementation, including prototyping, factory trials, and artwork development
  • Partner with suppliers to drive innovation and bring new packaging to the market efficiently
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Research and Development, Supply, Engineering, Quality & Food Safety, and Commercial teams to ensure a seamless handover of new packaging formats and technologies
  • Drive continuous improvement activities to enhance equipment efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize packaging processes
  • Identify and implement sustainable packaging solutions to help Mars meet its sustainability commitments.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentorship to fellow packaging technologists and engineers
  • Participate in advanced troubleshooting to resolve complex packaging issues impacting quality, cost, and efficiency

What are we looking for?

  • Experience working across Quality, Food Safety, Engineering, and Process Development
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and drive for results
  • A degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design, or a related field is preferred
  • Working knowledge of food processing and packaging technology is highly preferred
