The Role:

- Maersk Oil Trading is seeking a Sustainable Fuel Trader to join our Copenhagen-based trading team.
This is a commercially driven position focused on expanding and optimizing our sustainable marine fuels portfolio. You will actively trade and originate opportunities across biofuels and emerging green fuels, including biodiesel blends, advanced feedstocks, ethanol, and methanol, supporting Maersk’s decarbonization strategy while delivering strong commercial results.
You will join a top-tier global trading organization managing more than 12 million metric tonnes of fuel annually from our hubs in Copenhagen, Geneva, Singapore, and New York. The role operates at the intersection of trading, regulatory compliance, and energy transition strategy, requiring both market insight and strategic awareness.
Collaboration is critical to success. You will work closely with the Global Trading team, Operations, Risk, Energy Transition, and the Maersk Ocean organization to ensure seamless execution across both conventional and sustainable fuel transactions. Developing strong internal networks and maintaining trusted external relationships with suppliers, producers, brokers, and shipowners will be essential.
We are looking for a commercially sharp, proactive professional with strong execution capabilities, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sustainable fuel trading strategies across biofuels and other green fuel segments
- Conduct trading supporting the Maersk fleet and third-party business
- Identify and originate commercial opportunities within biofuels, ethanol, methanol, and other low-carbon fuels
- Manage supplier and customer relationships across global markets
- Navigate and optimize within evolving regulatory frameworks (e.g., marine fuel standards and sustainability compliance regimes)
- Collaborate cross-functionally to manage operational, credit, and market risk
- Assess commercial, logistical, and compliance impacts of new opportunities
- Contribute to business growth and continuous improvement of trading structures
This role requires participation in global trading teams and flexibility to collaborate across time zones.
What You Bring:
- Solid experience in sustainable fuels markets
- Understanding of the international sustainable fuels markets (ports, suppliers, owners, charterers, regulations)
- Proven experience or knowledge within biofuels and green fuels (experience in ethanol and/or methanol is an advantage but not required)
- Commercial mindset with demonstrated negotiation and execution capabilities
- Ability to operate independently while thriving in a collaborative, high-performance environment
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of market fundamentals
- High personal integrity aligned with Maersk’s core values
- Ambition to grow a sustainable fuels business and develop your role within it
