As an Air Import Operations Supervisor, you will lead the daily activities of our air import department, ensuring smooth handling of inbound shipments, full regulatory compliance, and excellent customer service. This is a hands‑on operational role with strong leadership elements, focused on driving efficiency, developing the team, and maintaining high service standards.

What you’ll be doing

    1. Operational Management• Supervise air import operations, including cargo receipt, customs clearance, and final delivery.
  • Ensure timely processing of import documentation (e.g., customs entries, arrival notices, delivery orders).

  • Coordinate with customs brokers, carriers, and warehouse providers to streamline import activities.

    1. Team Leadership• Lead and manage a team of import coordinators by assigning tasks, setting priorities, and evaluating performance.
  • Provide training and mentorship to enhance team expertise and productivity.

  • Foster a collaborative, high‑performance work environment.

    1. Customer Relationship Management• Serve as the main escalation point for complex customer issues and inquiries.
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding shipment status and delivery updates.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and service partners.

    1. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management• Ensure full compliance with import regulations, including customs and local trade policies.
  • Monitor and manage security procedures and documentation accuracy to minimize risk.

    1. Process Improvement & Cost Control• Identify inefficiencies in the import process and recommend operational improvements.
  • Monitor expenses to manage departmental budgets and enhance profitability.

  • Implement technology and automation solutions to improve tracking, reporting, and communication.

    1. Performance Reporting• Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as transit times, cost savings, and compliance rates.
  • Provide detailed analysis to support strategic decision-making.

What we’re looking for

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Proven import operations experience — ideally within air import processes.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of air import procedures and customs regulations.

  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities.

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in logistics software and shipment tracking systems.

  • Fluent English is a must, Dutch is highly preferred.

Performance Metrics

  • Timeliness and accuracy of import processing.

  • Team productivity and service efficiency.

  • Customer satisfaction and issue resolution rates.

  • Compliance with trade and safety regulations.
