Supervisor -Warehouse Operations (Outbound)
Job Summary:We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Operations Supervisor to oversee and optimize outbound logistics and shipping operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in warehouse management, distribution, and outbound logistics. This role requires a good understanding of inventory control, order fulfilment, and transportation coordination, ensuring timely and cost-effective deliveries while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Outbound Operations & Order Fulfilment:
- Supervise the entire outbound logistics process, ensuring accurate and timely shipment of orders.
- Coordinate order picking, packing, and shipping processes to meet customer deadlines and quality standards.
- Monitor real-time order processing and resolve any delays or discrepancies.
- Work closely with carriers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure on-time deliveries.
Warehouse & Inventory Management:
- Ensure efficient storage, retrieval, and movement of goods in compliance with warehouse best practices.
- Oversee inventory accuracy by conducting regular cycle counts and audits.
- Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) and LIFO (Last In, First Out) principles for optimized stock rotation.
- Identify and reduce shrinkage, damages, and losses through strict process controls.
Team Leadership & Performance Management:
- Lead, train, and develop a team of warehouse associates and outbound coordinators.
- Assign tasks, monitor productivity, and ensure KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) such as order accuracy, turnaround time, and on-time dispatch are met.
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
- Motivate staff and foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Process Optimization & Cost Control:
- Analyse outbound logistics data and identify areas for process improvements and cost savings.
- Optimize shipping routes, carrier selection, and freight costs to enhance efficiency.
- Implement 5S, Kaizen or other process improvement methodologies to streamline operations.
- Collaborate with procurement, sales, and customer service teams to align outbound operations with business goals.
Compliance & Safety Standards:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HSE, and other workplace safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate shipping documentation, invoices, and records as per company and regulatory standards.
- Enforce proper handling and storage of hazardous or perishable materials where applicable.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
- 3 to 7 years of experience in warehouse operations, outbound logistics, or distribution management.
- Proven experience in managing teams and overseeing warehouse functions.
- Strong knowledge of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with shipping software, TMS (Transportation Management Systems), and barcode/RFID scanning technology.
- Ability to analyze logistics data, forecast trends, and implement efficiency improvements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume warehouse environment.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Must be comfortable working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, or overtime as needed to meet operational demands.
