DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC) helps global companies run their mission-critical systems and operations while modernizing IT, optimizing data architectures, and ensuring security and scalability across public, private, and hybrid clouds. The world’s largest companies and public sector organizations trust DXC to deploy services across the Enterprise Technology Stack to drive new performance levels, competitiveness, and customer experience. Learn more about how we deliver excellence for our customers and colleagues at DXC.com.

Location: Washington, DC Metro (Hybrid). Hybrid role with 2–3 days onsite at client locations. Candidates within 25 miles of a DXC office are expected to be on-site two days per week.

Overview: The UX Designer will create intuitive, user-centered designs for DOD enterprise applications, focusing on usability, accessibility, and visual appeal. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and business analysts—to deliver modern, responsive solutions that meet both user needs and federal security standards. Candidates must hold a DOD Secret Clearance and be a U.S. Citizen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, workshops, usability studies) with Soldiers, HR professionals, and commanders to capture pain points and requirements.

  • Create user personas and journey maps tailored to DOD operational environments.

  • Apply Human-Centered Design (HCD) principles throughout the design lifecycle, including research, prototyping, and usability testing.

  • Create interactive prototypes, wireframes, and user interfaces using Figma and Adobe XD.

  • Document all design artifacts (wireframes, style guides, workflows) in contract management tools and obtain approvals through DOD governance processes.

  • Support continuous UX improvement through feedback loops and usability metrics (e.g., System Usability Scale scores, task success rates).

  • Develop modular, responsive UI components based on U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) 3.0 and DOD-specific branding standards.

  • Ensure mobile-first, accessible design for web and mobile platforms, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508 compliance.

  • Integrate analytics and dashboards (Kibana, Oracle Analytics) to enable real-time decision-making and improve the user experience.

  • Embed in-app guidance (Oracle Guided Learning) and AI-powered support (Oracle Digital Assistant) for training and onboarding.

  • Ensure all designs comply with DOD cybersecurity, accessibility, and audit requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • DOD Secret Clearance and U.S. Citizenship.

  • 3+ years of experience in UX design, including enterprise-scale applications.

  • Proficiency with Figma, Adobe XD, and USWDS 3.0.

  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and applying HCD principles.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Familiarity with DOD HR/pay processes and enterprise application design.

  • Experience developing accessible, mobile-first, and responsive interfaces.

  • Ability to document and present design artifacts for DOD governance and approval.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Multimedia Design, or related field.

  • Experience with analytics platforms (Kibana, Oracle Analytics) and in-app guidance tools (Oracle Guided Learning).

  • Experience integrating AI-powered support and chatbots (Oracle Digital Assistant).

  • Knowledge of DOD cybersecurity, accessibility, and audit standards.
