SAP ABAP Developer – E4H & SAP GTS Upgrade

Role Summary

The SAP ABAP Developer will play a critical role in delivering SAP GTS and E4H upgrade initiatives by designing, developing, and optimizing custom ABAP solutions. The role requires strong hands-on ABAP expertise, deep understanding of SAP GTS processes, and experience supporting ECC to E4H transition programs. The candidate will work closely with functional teams, integration architects, and business stakeholders to ensure a smooth upgrade with minimal business disruption.

Key Responsibilities

ABAP Development & Enhancements

• Design, develop, and enhance ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, forms, and enhancements in ECC, GTS 11, and E4H environments

• Adapt and remediate custom ABAP objects for E4H compatibility (SPAU/SPDD, code remediation, simplification item impact)

• Develop and optimize ALV reports, BAPIs, RFCs, IDocs, and proxy-based interfaces

SAP GTS Upgrade Support

• Support SAP GTS 11 to E4H upgrade activities from a technical perspective

• Modify and enhance GTS-specific developments including compliance management, customs management, and embargo screening

• Support testing cycles (unit, integration, UAT) and defect resolution related to GTS processes

S/4HANA & E4H Readiness

• Perform custom code adaptation using SPAM, ATC, and S/4HANA readiness checks

• Optimize ABAP code for HANA (Open SQL, performance tuning, CDS awareness)

• Support functional teams during E4H data model and process changes

Integration & Interfaces

• Develop and support integrations between ECC, GTS, and downstream systems

• Troubleshoot interface failures and provide root cause analysis

• Coordinate with middleware and functional teams to ensure seamless data flow

Testing & Documentation

• Prepare technical design documents (TSDs) and code documentation

• Support test execution, defect tracking, and production issue resolution

• Ensure compliance with development standards and transport management procedures

Collaboration & Governance

• Work closely with SAP Functional Consultants, GTS Architects, and Basis teams

• Participate in design reviews, technical walkthroughs, and change management discussions

• Support go-live and post-go-live stabilization activities

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory Skills

• Strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP (ECC and S/4HANA/E4H)

• Experience supporting SAP GTS upgrades (GTS 11 / E4H preferred)

• Expertise in Reports, Interfaces, Enhancements, Forms (RICEF)

• Experience with SPAU/SPDD, custom code remediation, and upgrade adjustments

• Good understanding of SAP GTS business processes

Technical Skills

• ABAP Objects, Open SQL, Performance Optimization

• IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, Proxy frameworks

• Familiarity with ATC checks and HANA compatibility

• Exposure to CDS views and modern ABAP concepts (preferred)

Location: Bangalore / Hyderabad (DXC India)
