about this team
The Outbound Logistics Technology team builds and supports lulu Route, a homegrown parcel execution engine built as a distributed microservices ecosystem. lulu Route integrates with Warehouse Management and Omni systems to:
- Retrieve shipping labels and tracking numbers from carrier partners (Fed Ex, USPS, Canada Post, etc.)
- Provide visibility into inbound cartons for retail stores
- Support Ship-from-Store (SFS) workflows
- Enable scalable global outbound fulfillment operations
This role strengthens the engineering maturity of the team, drives microservices evolution, and ensures the reliability and scalability needed for lululemon’s global supply chain.
core responsibilities
The Senior Software Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions across a distributed microservices platform. This role is hands-on, technically deep, and accountable for elevating engineering excellence across the domain. You will partner closely with the Technology Manager, solution architects, Product and Technical Project Managers, and QA teams to deliver robust, secure, and maintainable systems that meet business outcomes.
Technical Leadership & Delivery:
- Lead implementation of complex, cross-service features with minimal supervision
- Write high-quality, exemplary code demonstrating engineering best practices
- Drive technical implementation approaches, coding patterns, and architectural alignment across teams
- Provide implementation perspectives and technical input to architects on system design and integration
Engineering Quality & Standards:
- Establish and enforce coding standards, testing practices, and engineering best practices across the domain
- Lead code reviews focusing on quality, security, performance, and maintainability
- Design and champion automated testing strategies and frameworks that increase development velocity and quality
- Promote secure coding practices and lead adoption of security testing methods
Operational Excellence
- Debug and resolve complex production issues across distributed microservices
- Lead incident response for major production issues, including coordination and post-mortems
- Ensure reliability, observability, and performance are embedded into the development lifecycle
Mentorship & Influence:
- Mentor engineers at all levels, including Seniors, in technical depth and engineering leadership
- Influence architectural decisions, engineering strategy, and long-term platform evolution
- Partner with product and stakeholders to align engineering solutions with business outcomes
qualifications
- 10+ years software engineering experience
- 7+ years designing/developing RESTful APIs using Java, JSON, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Kafka and AWS services
- 5+ years leading engineering strategic initiatives, tooling evaluations, and best-practice implementations
- Strong expertise in relational databases, SQL, stored procedures
- Senior-level knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD, and modern deployment automation
- Strong understanding of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Release Management)
- Experience with infrastructure as code and multi-cloud strategies
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and modern productivity practices is a plus
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and system design skills
- Ability to challenge the status quo, influence change, and drive engineering excellence
- Expertise in designing/developing RESTful APIs using Java, JSON, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Kafka and AWS services
- Strong expertise in relational databases, SQL, stored procedures and knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD, and modern deployment automation

compensation and benefits package
lululemon’s compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $170,000- 194,000 annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
