Description:You will be the Electro Mechanical Design Engineer for the Advanced Programs team at Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control in Orlando, FL. Our team designs, develops and integrates flight worthy military electronics—processor modules, interface cards, power boards and flex assemblies—into high performance missiles and aerospace systems, often under extreme space, thermal and size constraints.
What You Will Be Doing:
As the Electro Mechanical Design Engineer you will lead the hardware development effort for these complex electronic assemblies, coordinating cross functional teams to take concepts from initial design through integration, test and production. You will apply high density packaging expertise, mentor junior engineers and ensure the hardware meets every mission and safety requirement. Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing detailed electromechanical designs for close proximity circuit cards, cable assemblies and mechanical support structures that can operate in space qualified environments.
- Producing complete release packages (3 D models, 2 D drawings, BOMs and design assurance documentation) that follow Lockheed Martin standards.
- Performing integration, fit check and lab test activities to validate subsystem and system performance.
- Leading design review and verification efforts with functional leads, program managers and customer representatives.
- Coordinating closely with engineering administration, designers, subcontractors, planning and quality teams throughout assembly, inspection and test phases.
- Applying design for manufacturability and design for test principles to streamline the transition from prototype to production hardware.
- Managing configuration control and documentation in LM tools (e.g., Windchill) to maintain traceability.
- Supporting Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews to meet MFC critical milestone schedules.
- Working with the Planning team to capture milestone dates, track status and report progress.
- Supporting occasional travel to supplier sites, customer facilities or program milestones while primarily working onsite in Orlando.
- Mentoring and developing less experienced electro mechanical engineers, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.
