FOOD RUNNER – (PT)Job Summary
Brooklyn Bowl has redefined the destination entertainment experience. “One of the most incredible places on earth,” according to Rolling Stone, Brooklyn Bowl integrates a premier performance venue, food by Blue Ribbon, bars which feature local craft brewed beers, and 32 bowling lanes which give guests a unique place to relax, eat, drink and watch a performance.
A Food Runner ensures that the bus stations and storage rooms are kept in order so that all needed items can be obtained quickly by food service personnel. Maintains the inventory for the bus stations. If the restaurant runs short of bus tubs, silverware or any other food service utensils, it is up to the Food Runner to notify management so that those items may be obtained as quickly as possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Deliver cold and hot items by following instruction from food servers’ orders; clearly describe dishes when delivered to table.
- Stock the kitchen runners’ windows.
- Professionally serves and clears all items in an unobtrusive manner.
- Bring soiled dishes, glassware and service items to appropriate areas.
- Help to keep all kitchen expedite area clean and up to Health Code and Alcohol Regulations.
- Help polish silverwares and fold napkins, time permitting. Other side work as required to maintain the cleanliness and readiness of the service areas.
- Act as the messenger between kitchen and front of house.
- Expedite food when necessary.
- Must possess complete knowledge of all menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, etc.
- Prepare all condiments, silverware and other items for food delivery.
- Ensures bus station, stock rooms and corridors are kept in order.
- Gets necessary approval for stock requisitions.
- Notifies management of any malfunctioning equipment.
- Work together as part of a team to provide the best overall guest experience.
NON-PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Food Safety/Health Card required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must possess basic reading and writing skills.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume restaurant.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
- Must adhere to all safety measures and policies.
THE PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS LISTED BELOW ARE GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION. THE ACTUAL EXERTION LEVEL (AND FREQUENCY OF USE) CAN AND DOES FLUCTUATE DEPENDING ON THE INDIVIDUAL TASKS BEING PERFORMED.PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to move throughout the restaurant during the entire shift.
- Physical ability to handle a Food Server's tray ranging in weight 20 - 35 pounds, repeatedly.
- Ability to push and/or pull approximately up to 600 - 650 pounds on wheels.
- Must be able to work in an environment with loud music, smoke and crowds for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to stand for entire shift.
