THE ROLEReporting to the Payroll Tax Manager, the Payroll Tax Specialist will work closely with the payroll team and external vendors and agencies across all payroll tax processing areas. The Payroll Tax Specialist will demonstrate a sustained high level of professionalism, discretion, and focus on the Shared Services payroll and our team environment. The associate must have strong customer service and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO:

Responsible for working with third-party payroll tax providers and tax agencies to open, maintain and close all payroll tax accounts (federal, tax & local)

Responsible for working with third-party payroll providers and taxing agencies to resolve open payroll tax issues
-
Timely research and resolution of all internal and external payroll tax inquiries (from employees, HR, department managers, and other parties) while maintaining top-notch customer service
-
Assist the Payroll team with complex payroll tax issues, questions, and special needs as they arise
-
Responsible for making sure all unemployment rates are correct and updated timely manner
-
Year-End Responsibilities, including the monthly/quarterly reviews, reconciliation, and release of all W2s/T4s, including W2s/T4s corrections

Comply with all local, state, and federal income tax laws
-
Maintain confidentiality of payroll information
-
Document and update procedures
-
Other duties and special projects as assigned
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING-
High School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelor's degree in related subject preferred
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (use of financial and logical functions; work with multiple spreadsheets and workbooks; import and export functions)
-
Must have 5 years of payroll tax experience in an organization with 10,000+ employees
-
Strong knowledge and the ability to understand the implications of federal, state and local payroll tax laws and regulations
-
Strong knowledge of California payroll laws
-
Working knowledge of payroll best practices
-
FPC or CPP credentials are highly preferred
-
Highly organized: strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multitask, and complete tasks according to deadlines

Ability to draw conclusions from research
-
Ability to work with minimal supervision
-
Excellent customer service skills
