Senior Humans Factor Specialist at Leidos
About the role
This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Humans Factor Specialist to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.
In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

Primary Responsibilities:

Apply human factors and human-centered design principles to improve system usability, accessibility, and user experience.

Conduct user research, task analysis, and workflow analysis to understand user needs and operational challenges.

Develop user personas, journey maps, and use cases to inform system design and improvements.

Collaborate with UI/UX engineers, software developers, and product teams to integrate human factors considerations into system design.

Evaluate system interfaces and workflows to identify usability issues and recommend improvements.

Support development and refinement of user interfaces, interaction models, and system workflows.

Conduct usability testing, user evaluations, and feedback analysis to validate system design.

Support development of training materials, user guidance, and onboarding processes to improve user adoption.

Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508) and usability best practices.

Analyze user behavior, system usage, and feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Document human factors analyses, findings, and recommendations.

Participate in SAFe ceremonies including PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Basic Qualifications:

Active Top Secret clearance.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Engineering, or related discipline and 8–12 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and6–10 years of relevant experience.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in human factors engineering or user experience design.

Experience applying human factors or UX principles in system or product design.

Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and workflow analysis.

Experience collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
-
Experience in developing and maintaining customer success plans and service catalogs.

Experience in customer relationship management and use case intake processes.

Ability to engage with stakeholders and capture their objectives and concerns.

Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Active TS/SCI clearance.

Experience supporting DoD or Federal programs.

Experience working with data platforms, analytics tools, or AI/ML systems.

Experience with UX/UI design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, or similar).

Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508 compliance).

Experience operating within Agile or SAFe environments.

Experience supporting enterprise-scale digital transformation initiatives.

Experience in service portfolio management and service level agreements.

Experience with knowledge management systems and AI capabilities for knowledge generation and management.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $107,900.00 - $195,050.00
