Your New Role and Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator provides technical support, maintenance, monitoring, and administration of core IT systems across Airborne Solutions Australia. This position supports end‑user computing, on‑site ICT infrastructure, networks, enterprise systems, and operational technology used by aviation and support teams. The role is responsible for first‑line diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues, as well as escalation to senior technical teams where required.
Working as part of the Airborne Solutions IT Operations team, the Systems Administrator ensures continuity of IT services across multiple operational sites, including remote aviation bases. The role assists with the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of Windows and Linux systems, networked devices, and enterprise applications, while following established procedures and adhering to security and compliance requirements.
-
Provide Level 1 administration and support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, peripheral equipment, and IT hardware setup, maintenance and lifecycle management.
-
Assist (under senior guidance) with installation, configuration and patching of systems and applications, and support security and compliance tasks including patching, MFA support, account provisioning, end-of-life device processes, and incident response activities.
-
Support local and remote network operations, including switch port patching, basic diagnostics, Wi‑Fi troubleshooting and monitoring.
-
Maintain and update system documentation, asset inventories and technical procedures, and monitor system performance, review logs and report anomalies to senior staff.
-
Provide on-site ICT support to operational teams (including remote base assistance), collaborate with other IT teams to resolve issues, implement improvements and support business continuity, and participate in after-hours support if required.
What You’ll Bring to Make An Impact
-
Relevant IT qualification (Certificate IV, Diploma, or equivalent experience) with demonstrated technical support experience in an enterprise environment, including Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 and common enterprise applications.
-
Sound understanding of networking fundamentals and exposure to supporting operational environments (including aviation), with experience using ticketing systems (Service Now or similar) and working within ITIL (or similar) service frameworks.
-
Strong documentation, communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and within a distributed team, follow procedures, escalate issues appropriately, and operate within defined security controls.
-
Desirable capability and/or willingness to learn across Linux/Unix, identity management (Active Directory, Okta), basic scripting (PowerShell, Bash), and virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper‑V).
-
Exposure to, or willingness to learn, monitoring and logging tools, network firewalls (Forti Gate/Cisco), backup and recovery processes, and cybersecurity fundamentals; willing to travel between operational sites.
Don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes – if you meet most of them, we encourage you to submit your application. We’re most interested in your strengths, what you want to learn and how far you want to go.
This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and be willing to obtain and hold a Baseline or greater security clearance and be willing and eligible to obtain an ESC.
