Facilities and Construction Project Manager at Leidos
About the role
Leidos is seeking a Project Manager to support the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) team. This position is responsible for independently leading and delivering complex, long-term construction and facilities projects in alignment with program objectives. The Project Manager is accountable for overall project performance, including scope, schedule, cost, and risk, and provides clear, accurate, and timely status reporting to stakeholders.
This role requires the ability to proactively and independently define project scope, lead planning efforts, and engage cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and execution. The Project Manager integrates scope, schedule, resources, and risks into a cohesive execution strategy that minimizes impacts to ongoing operations, while making sound decisions with minimal direction. Success in this role requires strong judgment, executive-level communication, and the ability to anticipate risks, influence decisions, and drive resolution across organizational boundaries.
Essential Attributes:
Essential attributes for this position are strong ownership and accountability for project outcomes, the ability to operate independently with sound judgment, and a demonstrated capacity to engage and align cross-functional stakeholders. The successful candidate will bring a disciplined approach to scope definition, risk management, and execution, along with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally at all levels of the organization. Equally important is the ability to navigate complex, evolving project environments, anticipate challenges, and drive timely, effective resolution while maintaining focus on scope, schedule, and cost objectives.
Deployment to Antarctica may be required at the discretion of management (approximately 3 to 8 weeks per year). The selected candidate must complete the physical and dental examinations required by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for deployment.
Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date. This process could take up to 4 months.
The Challenge:
-
Lead multiple complex projects and teams across the full project lifecycle, from initiation and planning through execution and closeout.
-
Integrate and align cross-functional team activities within a matrixed organization, establishing priorities and holding team members accountable for scope, schedule, and deliverables.
-
Collaborate with functional areas including facilities, operations, IT & communications, transportation & logistics, engineering, planning & controls, procurement, subcontracts, and finance to ensure an integrated project approach.
-
Manage facilities maintenance and construction projects from proposal development and RFI responses through design development, redlines, as-builts, and closeout.
-
Implement and maintain a comprehensive risk management approach, including risk identification, analysis, mitigation planning, and facilitation of recurring risk review boards, and ensure risks are actively managed to protect project objectives.
-
Perform regular schedule and resource analysis to support accurate forecasting and informed decision-making.
-
Execute Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibilities in accordance with ASC policies, including monitoring scope execution, maintaining cost and labor forecasts, analyzing variances, and documenting impacts and recovery plans.
-
Manage subcontractor engagement, including development of statements of work, negotiations, and oversight to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and performance expectations.
-
Develop, maintain, and manage integrated project schedules, including baseline control, logic development, and critical path analysis.
-
Execute projects using standardized project management practices, including scope, change, communications, quality, resource, and data management.
-
Ensure project delivery within approved scope, schedule, and budget, including development and execution of recovery and contingency plans as needed.
What Sets You Apart:
-
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of Project Management experience, including 4+ years managing large-scale, complex construction projects (additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
-
Demonstrated ability to independently lead project planning and execution with limited direction.
