Leidos is seeking an Industrial Engineering Intern to support operational excellence and process improvement initiatives within a high‑technology engineering and manufacturing environment. This role provides hands‑on experience applying industrial engineering principles to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput across mission‑critical production systems.
You'll work with a multidisciplinary team developing advanced maritime technologies, from prototype design to full-scale system deployment for ongoing Navy missions.

Key Responsibilities
- Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
- Collect and analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and optimization opportunities.
- Assist with capacity planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for mission‑critical projects.
- Recommend workspace layout improvements to enhance workflow and production efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to implement process improvements.
- Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to support operational optimization.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions.
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled in an ABET‑accredited Industrial Engineering or related engineering program
- Completion of a sophomore-level engineering curriculum
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data interpretation skills
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts and process mapping
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross‑functional teams
- US citizenship required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Experience with process mapping, workflow analysis, or time studies
- Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with CAD tools or simulation software

Pay Range:
Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
