Senior Cloud Operations Engineer
This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Operations Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations. In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement—helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility, enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Primary Responsibilities:

Operate, maintain, and optimize cloud infrastructure environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) supporting services.

Provide operational system administration and deployment support across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, and private cloud platforms.

Configure, test, and implement COTS, FOSS, and custom capabilities within commercial and on-premises cloud environments.

Manage compute, storage, networking, and platform services across multi-enclave cloud environments.

Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation for cloud provisioning and configuration management.

Support Dev Sec Ops pipelines by enabling automated deployment, integration, and monitoring of cloud-based applications .

Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability; implement improvements to optimize operations.
-
Perform system administration tasks including patching, upgrades, configuration management, and troubleshooting.

Ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-53, RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity policies.

Support asset management, backup, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations (COOP) processes.

Identify and resolve operational issues impacting system performance, scalability, and availability.
-
Collaborate with Dev Sec Ops, cybersecurity, data engineering, and software development teams to support integrated delivery.

Support incident response and operational troubleshooting activities.
-
Develop and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
-
Participate in SAFe ceremonies including PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
Basic Qualifications:
-
Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline and 8–12 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and6–10 years of relevant experience.

At least one of the following foundational qualification pathways consistent with DoD 8140 requirements:

Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification appropriate for Intermediate System Administrator roles (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SSCP, or equivalent),
-
Offerings listed in the DoD 8140 Training Repository,
-
Demonstrated equivalent training and experience qualifying under DoD 8140 foundational qualification alternatives.

Minimum of 6 years of experience in cloud operations engineering or related field.

Experience operating and maintaining cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Experience performing system administration in secure DoD or Federal environments.
-
Experience implementing Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
-
Experience working with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
-
Experience supporting Dev Sec Ops pipelines and automated deployment workflows.
-
Experience applying RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to conduct root cause analysis.

Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Experience developing and deploying systems via Infrastructure as Code.
Preferred Qualifications:

TS/SCI with CI Poly clearance.

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience operating within SAFe or Agile frameworks supporting enterprise systems.

Experience supporting cloud operations across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments.

Experience implementing Zero Trust architecture and secure cloud configurations.
-
Experience supporting enterprise data, AI/ML, or Dev Sec Ops platforms.

Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Sys Ops Administrator, Azure Administrator, or equivalent).

Experience with AI/ML model serving and deployment.
-
Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops practices and tools.
