
Facility Fire Protection Engineer for KTC R&D Center

What you’ll do
Job Title: Fire Protection Engineer Job Level: 26E – 27E (Based on Experience)Position Summary
Lam Research is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support the design, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of fire protection and life safety systems at the Korea Technology Center (KTC). This role will help ensure regulatory compliance, facility safety, and operational reliability for advanced semiconductor R&D facilities.
Fire Protection Engineering
- Support the design, review, and optimization of fire protection and life safety systems.
- Provide engineering support for automatic sprinkler systems, fire hydrant systems, water spray systems, fire alarm and detection systems, clean agent suppression systems(Novec1230, etc,.), and emergency response systems.
- Conduct fire risk assessments and hazard evaluations for facility projects and modifications.
- Develop engineering solutions to reduce fire and explosion risks.
- Support fire modeling, smoke control analysis, and egress evaluations as required.
Facility Operations Support
- Provide technical oversight of fire protection systems throughout the facility lifecycle.
- Support preventive maintenance, testing, inspection, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Review facility modifications and Management of Change (MOC) requests for fire safety impacts.
- Investigate system deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in emergency response planning and incident investigations.
Semiconductor Facility Safety
- Evaluate fire and explosion hazards related to toxic gases, specialty gases, flammable gases, hazardous chemicals, solvent systems, and semiconductor process equipment.
- Support fire protection strategies for laboratories, cleanrooms, utility systems, and chemical distribution systems.
- Collaborate with EHS and operations teams to ensure safe facility operation.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Korean regulations, NFPA standards, FM Global guidelines, and Lam Research engineering standards.
- Support regulatory inspections, permit acquisition, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Interface with government agencies, fire authorities, insurance representatives, and third-party auditors.
Project Management
- Support capital projects from planning through commissioning.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and design packages.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Support project execution, scheduling, and technical deliverables related to fire protection systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, and operational excellence.
Who we’re looking for
Minimum Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's degree in:
- Fire Protection Engineering
- Safety Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Or related engineering discipline
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in fire protection, facilities engineering, or life safety engineering.
- Experience supporting semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, pharmaceutical, chemical, or industrial facilities.
- Proven experience with fire protection system design, operation, and compliance.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection Engineering.
- Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS).
- Fire Protection Engineer License (소방설비기사 – Mechanical or Electrical).
- Experience applying NFPA and FM Global standards.
- Experience supporting semiconductor fabrication facilities, R&D centers, or cleanroom environments.
- Experience with:
