As Technical Designer, you will execute technical product specifications for multiple complex programs within Kohl’s Proprietary Brands.
What You’ll Do
- Develop accurate technical specifications aligning with Kohl’s brand ID, minimum construction standards, tolerances and grading requirements
- Collaborate with Product Integrity to ensure products meet performance testing protocols and requirements
- Conduct benchmarking and remain current on market trends and competition, providing recommendations based on insights
- Apply industry knowledge to resolve fit and production issues, fostering supplier and peer relationships
- Demonstrate proficiency in grading and consistency management, aligning with Technical Design Leadership and suppliers to implement changes
- Prepare for the Seasonal Sample Fit Benchmark by reviewing samples and presenting hypotheses for product improvements
- Guide new hires on Kohl’s processes and procedures
- Communicate technical specifications and collaborate with Vendors via PLM during product development
- Communicate sample corrections clearly to Vendors through written summaries, sketches and photos
- Support vendor onboarding and Certified Technical Designer training
- Additional tasks may be assigned
What Skills You Have
Required
- 5+ years of experience in Technical Design, Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Manufacturing or related industries
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Manufacturing or a related field of expertise
Preferred
- Experience using PLM and Adobe Illustrator or similar specification packages and sketching programs
- Knowledge of textiles, construction and pattern-making/grading
This role is based at our New York Design Office. You’ll work onsite from Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.

Pay Range: $90,600.00 - $153,100.00
