Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Come join a world-class engineering team and bring a highly-complex, next-generation reticle inspection tool to market! This role provides an opportunity for an experienced Mechatronics/Controls engineer to apply their understanding of control theory, system dynamics, and data analytics to optimize the performance of a multi-axis precision stage.
Specific responsibilities include:

1. Perform controller tuning, performance characterization, and troubleshooting for a nanometer-level precision motion stage.
2. Define requirements for stage testing and drive the development of data processing tools in Python.
3. Characterize dynamic performance at the inspection station level. Use a combination of testing and analysis to understand observed behavior. Define and drive the implementation of improvements if needed.
4. Work with a cross-functional team to bring prototype systems online and participate in the testing of complex calibrations and algorithms.
5. Follow the initial systems through Alpha test, delivery and Beta test at one or more customer sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS or PhD in related engineering discipline, with 5+ years of experience in precision motion control and hands-on experience integrating, testing, and optimizing the performance of complex mechanisms

• Experience with semiconductor equipment and working in cleanrooms is preferred

• Experience using Matlab/Simulink for controller development

• Experience using Python for data analytics

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years

Base Pay Range: $117,800.00 - $200,300.00 Annually
