Job Description:

What you’ll do:

HPE’s PTX Series Routers Packet Forwarding team develops the core software responsible for forwarding data packets across global networks. This software is deployed worldwide on high-performance routers and switches that power some of the largest and fastest public cloud, service provider, and mobile networks. The team plays a critical role in enabling reliable, high-throughput network traffic at scale. The PTX Series Routers Packet Forwarding software team is currently seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and evolution of this highly scalable networking platform

Responsibilities:

• Architect & develop Packet Forwarding Features for PTX Series Routers
• IPv4/IPv6, multicast, MPLS, Tunnels, BFD, L3VPN, VRRP

Design and implement complex algorithms with simple and easy to maintain code.

Develop detail functional specification and software system architecture for feature development.

Software maintenance, including triage, analysis and code modification for reported problems.

Work with Product Line Managers to understand Packet Forwarding Features and translate to implementation

Work with Test Teams to qualify and deliver high quality products

Engage with Customers:

Participate in Industry Forums:

Work on sustaining existing features

What you need to bring:

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of BS in CS with 3 years of work experience. MS degree is a plus. Experience in networking domain very strongly preferred.

In-depth understanding of IP routing/forwarding and networking concepts.

Strong C/C++ programming & debugging skills, minimum 3+ years.

Good understanding of system architecture for network processor based products

Strong fundamental computer science skills like algorithms, data structures, operating systems

Hands on experience in Linux

Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.Good team player with right attitude.
