About the Role
We are seeking a Manager (Engineering Manager / Team Lead) to lead a highly technical team responsible for the Axis Security management plane platform and services. This role demands both strong technical depth and people leadership. The ideal candidate brings hands‑on experience in authentication, multi‑tenancy, critical management paths, API‑first design, and distributed systems, along with the ability to lead engineers building a complex, security‑sensitive platform, to lead cross-collaboration efforts, and to work directly with external stakeholders.
What You’ll Do Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Co-own technical direction for the Axis Security management‑plane services and integration layers for APIs and user interfaces.
- Lead design of complex systems involving:
- Authentication and authorization (identity‑centric, zero‑trust flows)
- Multi‑tenant architectures with strict tenant isolation
- Critical management paths that directly affect customer access and policy enforcement
- Traceability, observability, and auditability across the platform
- Define and enforce API modelling standards for customer‑facing and partner‑facing APIs.
- Guide architecture for integration workflows, including:
- Identity providers (Id Ps)
- Analytics, telemetry, and reporting platforms
- Internal Aruba/HPE platforms and external partners
- Oversee design of policy management, orchestration, and workflow systems that drive Axis Security enforcement behavior.
Engineering Execution & Operations
- Lead execution of medium‑to‑large initiatives spanning multiple services and teams.
- Ensure systems are designed for:
- Reliability and fault isolation
- Backward‑compatible API evolution
- Predictable runtime behavior under load
- Secure data and state management
- Drive best practices across technical domain
- Oversee deployment and operations in cloud‑native, containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Participate in design and code reviews with a focus on correctness, security, and long‑term maintainability.
People Leadership & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering strong ownership and accountability.
- Conduct architecture and design reviews within the team.
- Partner closely with:
- Product management (customer and admin experiences)
- Security and identity teams
- Platform, data, and infrastructure teams
- Represent the team in cross‑functional and cross‑org integrations, clearly communicating trade‑offs and risks.
- Translate complex technical considerations into clear guidance for non‑technical stakeholders when needed.
What You need to Bring Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 8–12+ years of professional software engineering experience, including architectural ownership of distributed systems.
- 4+ years in a technical lead or engineering management role.
- Strong hands‑on experience with:
- Authentication, authorization, and identity flows
- Multi‑tenant system design
- Management/control‑plane architectures
- Expert proficiency with .NET / .NET Core, including internals and service‑oriented architecture patterns.
- Proven experience designing and implementing API‑first platforms (REST, GraphQL, gRPC).
- Experience leading integration‑heavy platforms that expose customer‑ and partner‑consumed APIs.
- Experience leading a mission-critical team responsible for critical online services with 99.9% uptime
- Experience with event streaming and messaging systems (Kafka, Kinesis, Pub/Sub, etc.).
- Strong architectural thinking, operational mindset, and problem‑solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Background in security products, especially ZTNA, SSE, IAM, or network security platforms.
- Experience building customer‑facing management applications for cloud services.
- Familiarity with compliance, audit, or regulated environments.
- Experience driving platform maturity around observability, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Exposure to UI/backend integration patterns (even if UI is not owned by the team).
