At JP Morgan, Goals-based planning is the cornerstone of how we forge lasting relationships. With a dynamic, client-centric approach, we place our clients’ aspirations at the heart of every investment strategy—empowering them to reach meaningful milestones and realize the life they envision.

As a Vice President in the Goals-Based Planning Team, you will collaborate closely with North Asia advisors, facilitating holistic planning conversations and leveraging our award-winning analytical tools. Reporting to the IPB Head of Goals-based Planning, you will play a strategic role in supporting the growth and success of our North Asia business.

We are looking for an accomplished and passionate Vice President to join our Hong Kong office, dedicated to further embedding Goals-based planning across the North Asia-focused teams. Your role is pivotal in partnering with advisors to develop, implement, and monitor long-term plans that reflect each client’s unique goals and preferences.

Job responsibilities

  • Drive client and prospect engagement across North Asia by delivering advice on strategic asset allocation and portfolio construction, tailored to individual goals.

  • Design and facilitate training sessions to help advisors strengthen their skills.

  • Build strong partnerships with regional stakeholders—including the Asia Lead for Goals-based planning, Market Managers, Team Leads, and Solutions Partners—to ensure alignment and promote adoption of our goals-based planning framework.

  • Collaborate with the Goals-based team in Mumbai to guide advisor teams in structuring and presenting wealth planning analyses in a clear, conversational manner.

  • Reinforce actively and amplify our goals-based approach during team huddles and internal meetings.

  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on goals-based planning and broader wealth advisory considerations relevant to North Asia.

  • Ensure advisors have access to high-quality Chinese and English content to effectively engage both prospects and clients.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance or Economics, or a related discipline or equivalent experience within wealth management or financial services.

  • Minimum Experience 7 years in asset allocation, portfolio management, or private banking advisory.

  • Proven expertise in advising on asset allocation for complex investment portfolios and providing guidance to ultra-high-net-worth clients.

  • Strong understanding of portfolio analytics and risk management concepts.

  • Ability to distill complex financial concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for clients.

  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, complemented by refined written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.

  • Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to perform effectively under pressure, with excellent time management and prioritization abilities.

  • Adaptable and collaborative, with a commitment to efficiency and continuous process improvement.

  • Fluency in English and Mandarin is required

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Proficiency in Cantonese is advantageous.

  • CFA® or CFP® certification is a plus.
