You will drive the development and execution of country-specific strategies to expand merchant services, identify and implement innovative solutions to grow the business, optimize revenue drivers and realization, and build strategic partnerships. This role requires a deep understanding of the payments landscape, merchant needs, and market dynamics to deliver sustainable growth and value. The role will sit on the Canadian Senior Leadership Team reporting into the Canadian Merchant Services President
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute country-specific merchant services strategies aligned with business objectives and market opportunities.
- Identify solutions to help merchants grow their businesses, including monetizing new product offerings, digital enablement, and operational enhancement and oversight of client solutioning and Implementation of complex rollouts
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to inform strategy and solution development.
- Drive revenue growth by identifying key revenue drivers, optimizing pricing, and ensuring effective realization of business opportunities.
- Build and manage strategic opportunities across payment brands, fintechs, and other ecosystem players to enhance merchant offerings and expand market reach.
- Execution and implementation of programs, processes, and initiatives, may manage cross functional resources
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (such as sales, product, relationship managers, operations, marketing, compliance) to ensure seamless delivery of merchant solutions.
- Monitor and report on business performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards in all merchant services activities.
- Influences mid to long term strategies and objectives and understands the larger picture. Important/influencing contact with key clients – internally or externally
- Responsible for decisions/activities that have significant impact on the organization’s P&L
- Generally a manager with meaningful yet defined accountability. In some cases, may act as an individual contributor displaying intellectual leadership on highly complex projects, has influence in team outputs and work, or in a role that is critical to the organization
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field. MBA.
- 10+ years’ experience in merchant services, payments, or financial services, with a focus on strategy and business development.
- Strong understanding of the payments ecosystem, merchant needs, and country-specific market dynamics.
- Proven track record in developing and executing growth strategies, revenue optimization, and partnership management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
