This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated banker to join a dynamic team and contribute meaningfully to our Investment Banking franchise.

Our EMEA Energy team originates and executes public and private M&A and capital markets transactions for corporate and financial sponsor clients across the oil and gas value chain, and our EMEA Energy franchise has been consistently No. 1 ranked. We maintain deep relationships with leading companies and investors across subsectors including Integrated Energy, Upstream, Downstream, Energy Transition including low carbon molecules, Energy Tech, Trading and Marketing, and Petrochemicals, and Energy Infrastructure (e.g., storage, pipelines).

The Energy team is part of our broader Natural Resources platform spanning Energy, Power, Renewables and Mining, and we work jointly with the Power and Renewables team on many clients and projects.

Role overview
As a Vice President in the EMEA Energy coverage team, you will lead day‑to‑day execution on live transactions and play a key role in client coverage and origination. You will manage analysts and associates, partner closely with senior bankers, and collaborate with cross‑border colleagues and product teams (M&A, ECM, DCM, Lev Fin, Ratings/Credit) to deliver best‑in‑class advice.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the origination and execution of complex M&A and capital markets transactions (buy‑side, sell‑side, take‑privates, carve‑outs, JVs; where relevant, asset/portfolio sales and farm‑in/farm‑out processes).
  • Oversee and review financial analysis, valuation and modelling (DCF, trading and transaction comps, merger models, LBOs, accretion/dilution), ensuring analytical rigour and accuracy.
  • Develop and present strategic advice and materials to clients, including board‑level executives; contribute to idea generation and pipeline development aligned to EMEA Energy themes.
  • Coordinate workstreams with internal product partners and external advisers (legal, accounting, technical and commercial diligence providers) across jurisdictions.
  • Drive marketing initiatives, pitches and thought leadership tailored to Energy subsector dynamics, commodity trends and regulatory developments.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members; set quality standards, provide training and feedback; support recruiting activities.
  • Ensure high‑quality deliverables, strong client relationships and adherence to internal risk, conduct and compliance requirements.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Significant Investment Banking experience with a strong track record in Energy across products.
  • Proven project leadership and process management skills; ability to run multiple cross‑border transactions under tight timelines.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical abilities, including expert Excel modelling and valuation.
  • Demonstrated origination contribution (idea generation, relationship development, pitch leadership) and an ability to convert opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex concepts clearly and defend recommendations.
  • Proactive ownership mindset; highly organised, detail‑oriented and decisive.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; advanced degree a plus.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Additional European language skills.
  • Experience with financial sponsors and energy infrastructure investors active in EMEA.
  • Familiarity with commodity markets, regulatory frameworks and technical/commercial diligence topics relevant to Energy.
