The Wealth Advisor will work with our MENAT (Middle East North Africa Turkey) banking team based in Geneva, working together with our Bankers, Investors, Lending Advisors, and the Global Wealth Advisors teams to fulfil our clients’ complex, long-term needs.
We are looking for a talented candidate with excellent communication and organizational skills, an entrepreneurial mindset and strong knowledge and/or experience in the private client legal and tax space, that allow him/her for a complete autonomy in front of the clients and their advisors. The technical skills needed include expertise in how UHNW individuals hold, protect, structure and transfer their wealth, based on their goals. This includes strategies for family wealth and family business, such as succession planning, preparing for liquidity events, family strategy, etc.
Whilst J.P. Morgan does not provide tax or legal advice, Wealth Advisors play an important role as sounding boards for our clients and prospects, providing information and guidance regarding succession planning needs, help them develop their family wealth and governance strategies, and to facilitate the structuring of the ownership of their assets in order to help families achieve the purpose for their wealth.
Core MENAT markets for this role include prosects and clients from the Middle East and Turkey to be served out of JPM Swiss (primary) and London, and partner with other MENAT Wealth Advisors on the team.
In addition to meeting clients and prospects, Wealth Advisors are instrumental in developing content and narrative for the entire J.P. Morgan advisor team to leverage.
Responsibilities:
Business Results:
- Work as a team with MENAT advisors to deliver on regional business priorities as well as the objectives of the Wealth Advisory team across EMEA
- Support and lead specific initiatives across the MENAT space (e.g., intermediary outreach, family offices, family governance, philanthropy and next generation initiatives, events)
Teamwork:
- Partner with the Bankers, Investors and Lending Advisors to support and coordinate delivering first-class service to our clients and prospects
- Proactively inform the team about strategic initiatives, industry trends and regulatory changes affecting the wealth planning universe
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment that supports growth and development
- Work as a team with the EMEA Wealth Advisors team and with all the JPMorgan Wealth Advisors teams around the world
Client/Customer/Stakeholder:
- Identify and deliver appropriate solutions addressing the needs of clients and a variety internal and external stakeholders
- Develop ideas to help win new business
- Partner with the advisor team in prosecting activities
- Work in close partnership with J.P. Morgan’s corporate tax, compliance, and legal teams to ensure effective management of our business
- Help to build and maintain client relationships with clients
- Develop and maintain regional Wealth Advisory materials
- Cultivate relationships with professional advisors and coordinate the team’s strategy with respect to Professional Advisors outreach
- Engage with clients’ tax and legal counsel to implement their advice
- Support clients in finding appropriate advisors where required
Risk, Controls and Conduct:
- Exercise sound judgment; act with integrity; protect our company, clients and customers
- A strong approach to managing tax risk is required, both in terms of managing discussions with clients and liaising on these topics with internal stakeholders
- Actively partner across lines of business to drive the risk/control agenda; participate in appropriate control forums
- Facilitate the risk assessment and onboarding of complex structures
Qualifications:
- A proven track record in working with UHNWI clients
- Recognised thought leader/expert with solid knowledge and experience of private client legal and tax concepts
- Lawyers with a background in private client matters are also appreciated
- Commercial mindset and ability to work towards clearly defined metrics
- Genuine interest in developing in the fields of succession planning, family governance, family office and philanthropy strategies, as well as in finance matters
- Ability to work in a diverse multi-cultural environment
- Strong relationship orientation and a self-starter with business development skills
- Accomplished client management skills with requisite gravitas to quickly earn client trust and win confidence
- Well-honed communication, negotiating and influencing skills
- Inherent team orientation with ability to work across the firm and jurisdictions as appropriate
- Fluency in English, Arabic a plus
