Step into a senior front-office research leadership role shaping how clients understand and invest in Thailand and ASEAN Energy & Utility. You will drive differentiated sector views, lead high-conviction research and valuation work, and represent the franchise with senior clients and company management teams. This role offers the opportunity to set research direction, mentor talent, and elevate the team’s market profile through thematic thought leadership. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced trading floor environment where your judgment, insight, and commercial impact matter.

As an Equity Research Vice President/Executive Director, Thailand and ASEAN Energy & Utility within the Equity Research team, you will own coverage strategy and deliver actionable research that supports sophisticated client decision-making. You will set the analytical agenda across the sector, oversee modeling and valuation frameworks, and ensure research outputs meet the highest quality and risk standards. You will partner closely with Sales and Trading, Corporate Access, and other internal stakeholders to maximize client impact and commercial outcomes. You will also develop junior talent and expand the franchise through thought leadership and strategic client engagement.

Job responsibilities

  • Own Thailand and ASEAN Energy & Utility coverage strategy, including sector framework, key themes, and research priorities.
  • Lead development of investment theses and valuation approaches, ensuring rigor, consistency, and actionable conclusions.
  • Deliver high-impact sector and company research, including thematic publications and cross-sector collaborations.
  • Engage senior clients to understand investment needs, provide tailored insights, and deepen relationships.
  • Represent the franchise in meetings with company management, investors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Direct day-to-day research workflow and review outputs to maintain quality, timeliness, and coherence of messaging.
  • Oversee modeling standards and scenario/sensitivity analysis; challenge assumptions and key drivers.
  • Identify emerging risks, regulatory developments, and market shifts; translate them into clear implications for clients.
  • Partner with Corporate Access to plan and execute channel checks, fact-finding, and investor/management engagement.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members through coaching, feedback, and skill-building on fundamentals and modeling.
  • Drive franchise growth by proposing new products, approaches, and client outreach aligned to sector opportunities.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Demonstrated senior-level equity research experience covering financials and/or banks with accountability for published views and client impact.
  • Proven ability to lead sector and company analysis, including forming differentiated theses and communicating them credibly.
  • Advanced financial modeling and valuation expertise, with ability to review, challenge, and improve models and sensitivities.
  • Strong commercial judgment and ability to prioritize work based on client needs and market relevance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management across clients, Sales and Trading, and internal partners in a front-office environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong understanding of banking fundamentals, competitive dynamics, and key risks affecting Thailand and ASEAN banks.
  • Experience leading or developing talent, including coaching analysts/associates and raising team standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate under tight deadlines with high quality and attention to detail.
  • Strong risk and control mindset, with ability to follow applicable policies and regulatory requirements.
  • English fluency

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Direct coverage experience in Thailand and/or ASEAN Energy & Utility.
  • Established client relationships and evidence of sustained engagement with senior investors.
  • Thai language capability or commitment to develop Thai fluency over time.
  • Track record of thought leadership, including thematic sector pieces and cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience engaging with company management teams and coordinating complex corporate access activity.
