The Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific (EMAP) Equities team at J.P. Morgan Asset Management manages global, regional, and single‑country EM and APAC equity portfolios, supported by the Investment Specialist team across nine locations worldwide. With a broad geographic footprint and deep market expertise, the team delivers disciplined, research‑driven equity solutions across emerging markets and Asia Pacific.
As an Associate in our EMAP Investment Specialist team in Asia, you will provide comprehensive support to deliver exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders. The role blends day‑to‑day inquiries with recurring client commitments, while contributing to the innovation of client offerings and driving efficiencies within the team. You will collaborate closely with Investment Specialists in the US, UK, and India, with a clear path toward progressing into a client‑facing Investment Specialist role.
The ideal candidate is task‑oriented, deadline‑driven, and adaptable to shifting priorities. Success in this role requires effective coordination with colleagues across portfolio management, sales, performance, client account management, RFP, client reporting, product, risk, and compliance. This position offers the opportunity to be an integral part of a dynamic, growing business alongside high‑caliber investment professionals. Consistent high performance may lead to expanded responsibilities over time, including direct client‑facing opportunities and involvement in product strategy development.
Job Responsibilities
- Respond to ad hoc client requests from sales teams with timely, accurate follow‑up.
- Support Senior Investment Specialists and drive proactive follow‑ups after meetings and roadshows.
- Coordinate high‑priority client meetings and due diligence questionnaires, owning materials and end‑to‑end logistics.
- Write concise, insight‑rich investment commentary for client reports.
- Develop compelling promotional materials (presentations, sales aids).
- Build strong relationships with internal partners to expedite and resolve client and sales queries.
- Liaise with the RFP team on initial reviews of RFP documents and queries, escalating to Investment Specialists as needed for timely resolution.
- Execute ad hoc projects to enhance presentations and reports, and streamline processes.
- Progress to presenting EMAP strategies and market views to clients in meetings and seminars.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or other related disciplines.
- 3 or more years of experience in Asset Management firms or Financial Institutions.
- Client‑focused mindset with experience managing client requests.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to interact confidently with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin to support clients from Greater China.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- CFA Charterholder or interest in pursuing the designation is desirable.
- Working knowledge of Spectrum apps (Performance View, Portfolio Analytics, Materials Library, Fund View, Client View) and Bloomberg is an advantage.
- Knowledge of JPM’s pooled funds business.
