As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Home Lending Technology division, you will design and implement scalable, high-performance systems specializing in Python or Java, React, and AWS cloud. In this leadership position, you will set technical direction, champion best practices in design, coding, and testing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust applications. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to strategic technology decisions that shape our future.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality, scalable code using Python or Java, React, and AWS stack, adhering to best practices in design, testing, and maintainability.

  • Architect and implement secure, efficient solutions for processing large volumes of data.

  • Conduct code reviews, pair programming, and provide coaching to elevate team coding standards.

  • Identify and automate remediation of recurring issues to enhance operational stability.

  • Establish coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and documentation practices to improve overall software quality.

  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering their growth and development as strong contributors.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with Product Managers and Leadership.

  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Provide hands-on delivery and actively participate in the implementation of technical solutions.

  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture

  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 5+ years of applied experience

  • Strong technical skills Java development including areas such as React/Angular, Spring, Hibernate, JMS, Spring Boot

  • Experience in Java (Core & EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud)

  • Strong skills around object oriented analysis and design (OOAD),Design principles and Design patterns with ability to trouble shoot and debug an application for any application issues

  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages

  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Experience working with Sonar, SSAP, JIRA, GIT, Maven etc.

  • Understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

  • Knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills -
Experience with Java 17 or higher

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems

  • Practical Cloud native experience

  • Experience interacting with user experience designers, product owners and produce quick prototypes to seek feedback

  • Ability to adopt to the fast-paced environment with changing requirements
