JOB PURPOSE

This role is responsible for leading, planning, guiding and driving Medical strategy and activities within a specified Therapeutic Area Cluster (TAC), for marketed products and those still under development, in order to achieve and meet organizational objectives.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

· Ensure appropriate and robust Medical and Scientific Leadership is provided by the Therapeutic Area Head, and the respective Cross Functional Teams, for all New Business Development opportunities and New Product Introductions, to enable successful and compliant identification and launches of new Johnson & Johnson products. (Business Excellence)

· Drive growth within Medical Education across the TAC, ensuring all projects align to Brand strategies, are appropriately resourced and are 100% HCC compliant. (Business Excellence)

· Ensure clear and achievable metrics for field based activity of the TAC customer facing field roles ex: Medical Scientific Liaisons (MSLs), to demonstrate the value these interactions bring in contributing to the business achieving overall goals. (Business Excellence)

· Develop TAC strategies around proactive and compliant engagement of MSLs in the field, which are measurable, align with and drive the achievement of business goals. (Customer Excellence)

· Ensure strategic Leadership and input to Global Clinical Operations, Locally sponsored clinical trials and Investigator Initiated studies, for the TAC, is provided on all Medical Affairs matters that relate and/or affect their business, and the ability to achieve their objectives in a compliant way. (Business Excellence)

· Ensure robust and constructive collaboration with internal stakeholders by holding the TAC accountable for generating and driving Medical strategy, using customer insights gathered to better understand what the customer needs and wants, and be able to translated these meaningful activities aligned with business goals and ensuring clarity of expectations/goals. (Customer Excellence)

· Is a core team member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team, who understands the overall objectives and challenges of the Medical Affairs, ensures that the agreed upon Medical strategy is executed by the TA Medical team, proactively deals with issues and fosters close collaboration within the Medical Affairs. (Business Excellence)

· As the Therapeutic Area Head, serves as a role model for making CREDO based decisions, creating a trusting, collaborative and ethical work environment within Medical Affairs and the broader business, as well as maintaining high levels of quality, compliance and accountability to ensure appropriate business growth. (Leadership Excellence)

· Is responsible for managing the TAC team on a day-to-day basis, being proactive in development and succession plan discussions and ensures high engagement across the team. (Leadership Excellence)

· Provides strong leadership at the Medical Leadership Team so as to ensure that Medical are seen as a valuable and critical partner in the Business, appropriately challenging the status quo of how we partner with the business, and ensuring close collaboration within the LT is a priority. (Leadership Excellence)

Job Requirements/Qualifications

· Education: Medical Degree, Clinical pharmacology degree, and/or PhD and/or Master’s Degree or equivalent

· Industry Plus Clinical Experience: Minimum > 5 years

· Good communicator and has the ability to manage many stakeholders within a complex matrix structure.

· Strategic thinker who can translate strategy into executable activities.

· Good presentation and facilitation skills

· Good negotiating skills

· Strong customer focus: ability to develop strong and strategic relationships with key customers

· Strong collaborative and interdependent partnering abilities: must work closely with sales & marketing, government affairs, health economics, medical communications, regulatory affairs, medical information, global clinical operation, pharmacovigilance, etc

· Good business acumen

· Ability to travel
