  • The EHS Manager in Apodaca, Nuevo León, will play a critical role in fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship through the implementation of the Safety Lean Transformation and adherence to the Action Plan of Sustainability for FY.

  • You will ensure that all EHS objectives are met with 100% compliance according to corporate requirements and industry standards.

  • This position is pivotal in providing leadership and strategic direction for the implementation of comprehensive EHS programs and processes tailored to operational needs and relevant legislative requirements, as well as assessing specifications for new projects.

How will you do it?

  • Lead the expansion development process by thoroughly evaluating and reviewing proposals, requests for proposals, and contract documentation for all relevant EHS issues, ensuring that EHS considerations are integrated into the decision-making process.

  • Establish and enforce criteria for various new business expansions to ensure alignment with EHS standards and corporate objectives.

  • Develop, implement, and manage a robust regional EHS management system that adheres to JCI and industry requirements, while achieving and maintaining compliance goals for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.

  • Provide expert support and conduct professional reviews of incident investigations and corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement in EHS performance.

  • Act as the primary representative for the geography at corporate and regional EHS forums, effectively communicating EHS program initiatives and performance data to corporate and BT&S staff, as required.

  • Direct and manage start-up and transition activities for new or expanding projects, which include conducting expectations meetings with new staff, performing site hazard assessments, and developing initial execution plans for EHS protocols.

  • Monitor and track the progress of action plans at project sites/plants, providing regular updates and reports to the management team regarding compliance and performance metrics.

  • Design and conduct comprehensive EHS training programs for all levels of staff, plant employees, and contractors, tailored to address specific needs, regulatory requirements, and EHS strategies.

  • Oversee the management and resolution of work-related injuries across manufacturing plants, implementing appropriate cost containment measures and strategies.

  • Assist in the calculation, communication, and tracking of EHS performance metrics and goals for various accounts, consistently reporting plant progress against established EHS BT&S manufacturing targets to JCI management teams.

  • Conduct thorough evaluations and analyses of injury trends within manufacturing plants, collaborating directly with plant teams to identify root causes and implement effective preventative measures.

  • Provide strategic direction on the planning and execution of site surveys and audits, either leading these efforts or coordinating with the Global EHS Director to determine necessary audit support levels.

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of EHS industry best practices and technological advancements to ensure the adoption of systems and techniques that effectively mitigate risks.

  • Stay informed on evolving regulatory requirements pertaining to EHS and ensure compliance across all relevant operations.

  • Lead the EHS Committee, ensuring active participation in EHS workshops and seminars to foster a culture of learning and improvement.

  • Collaborate with the management committee to define and review security policies, health, and environmental initiatives to ensure alignment with corporate strategies.

  • Set and monitor environmental objectives and targets for safety and health in partnership with the management committee, driving accountability and performance.

  • Ensure that the management team fulfills the responsibilities outlined in the EHS management system and adheres to corporate initiatives effectively.

  • Allocate essential resources to support the efficient functioning of the EHS management system, promoting a proactive approach to safety and compliance.

  • Encourage and nurture a culture of continuous improvement among employees, fostering innovation and engagement in EHS initiatives.

  • Attend relevant training sessions to expand knowledge on Lean & Six Sigma tools and methodologies to enhance continuous improvement practices as required by function and position.

  • Implement and oversee Security Risk Assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure effective risk mitigation strategies are in place.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience as an EHS Manager or in a similar role.

  • Knowledge and practical experience with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

  • Degree in a related field, such as Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or Safety Management.

  • Relevant certification in EHS management or safety is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • Fluent in English.
