This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Structural Engineer with strong analytical and practical design skills to support structural work related to AHU baseframes and supporting steel structures.

You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality structural calculations, seismic reports, 3D modelling, and manufacturing drawings, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all structural components used in our data‑centre projects.

Reporting to the Engineering Projects Manager, you will collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and External Structural Consultants to ensure seamless integration of structural design into our full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform deflection calculations, load evaluations, and structural verification for AHU baseframes and welded steel assemblies.
  • Develop or review seismic reports, including modelling assumptions, structural load paths, anchorage details, and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Create and/or validate manufacturing drawings for structural components, ensuring accuracy, buildability, and proper detailing for fabrication.
  • Produce 3D structural models (preferably in Autodesk Inventor) aligned with AHU production models.
  • Coordinate structural inputs with Mechanical Engineering and the broader design team to ensure alignment with product and site requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide expert guidance on structural considerations, deflection criteria, and connection design.
  • Support production and manufacturing teams by reviewing shop drawings, answering queries, and resolving structural issues found during build.
  • Collaborate with external structural consultants and ensure all required deliverables are communicated, reviewed, and approved.
  • Prepare or review structural documentation including calculation packages, reports, and QA/QC checklists.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for first‑build baseframes and structural assemblies.
  • Interact with production and manufacturing and perform periodic inspections of units under construction.
  • Be willing to learn new skills and share their knowledge to grow a Teams collective knowledge.
  • Communicate and interact with internal and external clients to resolve technical queries.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of steel structural design and baseframe engineering.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and 3D CAD tools (Inventor preferred).
  • Ability to generate seismic calculations and interpret standards.
  • Hands‑on understanding of fabrication processes, tolerances, and weldment design.
  • Ability to interpret specifications and translate them into practical structural solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight timelines.

What We Look For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • 6–10 years of structural engineering experience, preferably including industrial or equipment support structures.
  • Proven experience creating or reviewing manufacturing/fabrication drawings.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform structural calculations, deflection checks, and load evaluations.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, mechanical teams, and external consultants.
  • Detail‑oriented and diligent, with strong ownership of deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence when engaging with clients and internal stakeholders.

Benefits:

  • Good company benefits including pension contribution, Health Care package and Membership of Engineers Ireland is provided.
  • Networking opportunities and career development support.
